Article on Killzone 2 media hate and bias.
"For those of us that have been waiting diligently for Killzone 2 to arrive in stores (and we won't be waiting for too much longer) we would undoubtedly have been following the progress of GG's latest FPS offering, Killzone 2. Having read previews, browsed forums and read impressions of the game something seems to stick out like a sore thumb.
Killzone 2 is a solid First Person Shooter experience, with a highly addictive multiplayer, but something else seems to be brewing, hate. yes you read that right Killzone 2 hate is everywhere, there are people who simply want to tear Killzone 2 apart for reasons I don't know."
Hugely disappointingly, it seems that Guerrilla Games, developers of the Killzone and Horizon series, may be done with Killzone for good.
1 was fine, overhyped as a " halo" killer
2 was a graphical beast at the time, and felt heavy
3 was good a refinement of 2 but not much else. weird audio issues environment were to quiet
shadow fall was pretty but bland
I dont mind if someone else takes up the mantle for the KZ franchise. We are several years removed from the first game. It certainly could use a remake to gauge interest in the rest of the series. I know it has its fans... Im thinking of how a proper reboot can rekindle that old dormant flame and bring in a new generation of fans in the process.
Would like a new IP before Horizon 3. Just because games take so long to make these days.
The PlayStation 3 may not have been the strongest generation for Sony, but there were still some diamonds in the rough that deserve a revisit as PS5 remasters.
Even if they could just remaster and put on PSVR2, some would still look great as VR titles and could do a whole lot to bolster the headset w these exclusives! I'd imagine the investment of reworking these titles into VR would be way less than building new games from the ground up, and they could be amazing experiences, and VR often makes flat games feel fresh again. The Resistance and Killzone games are particularly what I want to see!!
The time is perfect for a resistance fall of man game campaign coop multiplayer
Resistance was ok but Warhawk and Starhawk was better and kept me coming back for almost a decade of fun and petty revenge on the loud mouth unskilled players 🤣
Edit I loved capture the flag dropping the pot on the flag carrier was extremely satisfying as well as transforming your plane in bot form and stumping them to death 😱
The Amsterdam-based studio reflects on its humble beginnings, beloved franchises, and growth through the years.
Up there with the top tier in the industry. Love Guerrilla Games - Horizon Burning Shores is simply STUNNING.
32.7M sales in the Horizon franchise! With 8.4M coming from Forbidden West alone! Truly a hugely successful game and franchise as a whole. Looking forward to Horizon III
Yooo, when I first saw that Killzone 1 footage at E3, my friends my brothers and I were like, Holy shit! When it came out, it didn't look exactly like it, but we sunk so many hours into 1 & 2.
I even liked Killzone: SF, it was a spectacle to look at, and even today it looks good. I hope they make a new one. Can you imagine how that will look, and they can get some modern FPS pointers from Bungie.
Such a wonderful studio. They deserve all their success.
The Decima Engine is absolute 🔥 I'm just mad they have abandoned Killzone.
and scorches retinas
IF this was a 3rd party game that went multiplat there would NOT be a fraction of the hate. IF this was on the 360 exclusively we wouldn't hear the end of it in terms of 'teh graphics'. Nothing looks and runs as smoothly as Killzone 2 at this present moment. Even with those graphics they can still get 32 players in multiplayer. .. How many games can do that?? Stop the hate guys as you will be witnessing the next level with the release of killzone 2.
who ever hate killzone 2 must give him the middle finger, cause no way in hell a gamer hate it except if he hate the shooting gener in general
Because it's not multiplatform
its puttin me through hell coz i want to play it now *stamps out the room slamming the door crying his eyes out*
Though neither can decide whether the game is too similar to COD4, or not similar enough. They're still debating on that one.
The "AI" argument is an easy one for biased journalists to get away with since most reviews are typed. And if there's video reviews, the site can simply edit off the great examples of good AI within and game and simply show mistakes the AI made (even if these mistakes were realistic).
This game is going to get a lot of 10's and a lot of 6's and 7's, simply because Microsoft does have a stranglehold on a lot of media outlets. Halo 3 got unanimously high scores, despite what journalists and gamers alike were saying about the game. Heavenly Sword was the first PS3 exclusive that got slaughtered. IGN still refuses to fix their review, which doesn't represent the Retail Code.
It's pretty simple. If a 360 exclusive has any kind of technical glitches that harm gameplay enjoyability (such as Gears of War 2), those flaws will get ignored and a very high score is guaranteed.
If a PS3 exclusive so much as one incident of screen tearing or texture pop-in, it's dubbed as 'average' or worse. If game sites are wondering why no one respects them anymore, it's because of this rampant hypocrisy. Hell, even Gametrailers purposefully makes multiplatform titles look better for 360 than PS3, but that's expected since their parent company is Microsoft after all. When caught on numerous occasions, they typically banned members, closed down forum posts, and issued hilariously bad Press Releases explaining "It was a simple editing error."
