Goal posts are moved all the time. Next year there will be a ton of posts saying Forespoken and FFXVI aren't exclusives as they are not First party.

Already seen a couple of coments saying Sony is dropping the ball next year as they only have Spider Man 2 announced for next year.

Exclusive has a different meaning depending on what narative you want.

Exclusive means exclusive. Narrative are narratives. Biases are biases. We should call them out when they're clearly there. Issue with the comment section is you can't be writing paragraphs explaining your full position so a lot of smarty pants will try to claim that you have double standards when you don't. So not a narrative in many cases but a more nuanced or defined position that many on the other side will fail to accept or see.

The funny thing is exclusives in that sense are a thing of the past almost all console makers with the exception of Nintendo are becoming multiplatform. So I guess this is the closest thing to an “exclusive”

Let's stop acting like everyone is a PC gamer. Most console gamers don't own a gaming PC. Yes hardcore gamers may own a gaming PC and consoles but vast majority is still the casuals buying platforms to play just few games a year

No need to have this argument about goalposts changing with every release. PlayStation has always been about exclusives and now even they realized there is more money to be made being on PC too. That's why I don't think Xbox will have any exclusive at all, if a platform allows GP their games will be on it day one

We all know the score now days when a console holder says exclusive. It means you can't get it on a competing console. PC doesn't count.

When I hear exclusive I still want to know if it's actually exclusive. I never gave Xbox a pass when they released theirs on PC...not gonna flip flop and give PlayStation a pass either.

Exclusive literally means not available anywhere but in the platform it's exclusive on. The term console exclusive is a midway term used to try to appease those looking for actual exclusives. Xbox has none. PlayStation still has a few for now. We'll see this generation if it even matters to get the next PlayStation console.

You know this is going to be both sad and bad at the same time, because they have to make a separate definition, «exclusives for xbox». Which is different from exclusives for other consoles. Yikes.

Also, according to the article, «Sea of Thieves: Season 5» was only released on PC (Microsoft Windows) and Xbox One. And Psychonauts 2 was on Playstation and you can play it on PS5. So they break their own rules («We’re defining Xbox Series X exclusives as games that aren’t available on the PS5.»). What a joke.

Ps5 doesn’t have a ton either, but so far my XsX has just been a place to play PUBG properly (unfortunately it never got patched well for ps5/4).

3 of those games are on ps4, and Returnal and R&C totally could’ve been gutted of extra effects to run on ps4 if it wasn’t their baked in need for adaptive triggers.

So, the only game that really blows my hair back in terms of graphics is Demons Souls.

But of course I love Returnal and those other games. I would’ve killed to have just ONE game as cool as Returnal made just for the XsX.

So my argument still stands, not that you address it or anything: the XsX having ZERO exclusives makes the PS5’s thin library of exclusives look stellar.

Even with ms buying zenimax and activision. I still prefer sonys games all day. Ill miss fallout and wasteland. Possibly starfield but ill just pick up an xbox off marketplace when the time comes. Im not paying full price for a handful of games though.
