Square Enix Needs To Stop Sending Cool JRPGs Out To Die

TheGamer's Jade King says: "DioField Chronicle came out the other week. I bet you didn’t know that though. Valkyrie Elysium came out last week too. I bet you didn’t know that either. Dungeon Encounters came out last year and it kicked ass. Not ringing any bells? That’s cool, I don’t blame you. Square Enix has done almost nothing to promote games that deserve so much more."

I agree, Square needs to improve their games promotions, I got Valkyrie Elysium because I always keep track os (J)RPGs and it's pretty damn good, but I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people had no idea that it is already out

Tacoboto992d ago

I really enjoyed the Elysium demo and didn't know it was out either until I just saw the IGN review.

Fun combat but they gave it a 6 because of... everything not the combat. It'll definitely be a purchase for me, eventually, but it'll need to be on sale since playing it you could feel it wasn't exactly going for AAA

The demo was good trying to finish soul hackers 2 and then I will pick it up.

Outlawzz992d ago

They really need to stop using that auto name generator for their games too, Its pretty ridiculous lol even kemco can come up with better names

Close to the Platinum on DioField, wouldn't even know it existed if I didn't keep track.

Maybe the advertisement could be better, but I also think they're just releasing way too many games... Outside of FF7 Remake, FF16, Kingdom Hearts 4, and maybe Forspoken. It seems their motto is "quantity over quality". I'm sorry but Valkyrie Elysium? That game just oozes mediocrity. I knew that since the very first trailer. I'm sorry but if you think that game looks like anything special, you should get your eyes checked... I never had any plans of buying that game.

The one I'm actually looking forward to is Star Ocean: The Divine Force. I already have it pre-ordered.

And this is coming from a big JRPG fan. Forspoken, FF16, FF7 Rebirth, all day 1 games for me.

But some of these other games just don't look any good. Various Daylife is another poor looking one. Don't be surprised if sales aren't great for that one.

Your loss. The game is really good and has better combat than most AAA games. The story isn’t the best, definitely not the worst.

I think getting this at a $20 discount would be a safe buy for most people. I think the $60 price tag is the largest mistake here , but I have no regrets. I plan on trying to platinum it.

phoenixwing992d ago

I bought it from best buy with a steelbook at no extra cost. No regrets. The game is fun which I can say is the number one criteria for me followed by story

nommers992d ago

I hear that it does have great combat which is interesting because when you look at the reviews it almost makes you think how much the reviewers are putting stock into things that a lot of other games either don't have or do poorly but get excused from.

HeliosHex992d ago

Have to agree with Mr bubbles elysium was a huge meh for me. Wasn't feeling that next Gen vibe at all. More like 2 gens behind.

repsahj992d ago

100% agree with Mr.Bubbles, after playing the demo I lose interest in this game. The same feeling I get playing Tales of Arise. Yes, It has pretty graphics, and awesome gameplay, but the overall feel of the old JRPG is gone(like exploration, secret world & charaters, airships, exploring world map). Good thing XC3 was there, best jrpg to date IMHO.

Don't forget they've put a lot of these on gamepass and ps plus so you can add that money to it. Good to see Sega going strong

Happy for sega ! I was expecting some kind of showing of their newer games at game fest but maybe they’re keeling it for TGS? Crazy taxi and jet set needs a trailer or something soon !!!

Playdead co-founder slammed with lawsuit as bitter row with co-founder escalates

Playdead co-founder Dino Patti is allegedly being sued by his former studio and business partner.
Patti was threatened with a lawsuit earlier this year after he posted a now-deleted LinkedIn post that shared an "unauthorized" picture of co-founder Arnt Jensen and discussed some of Limbo's development. Patti said Jensen demanded a little over $73,000 in "suitable compensation and reimbursement," adding that he had "repeatedly" had such letters over the last nine years.
