A Plague Tale Requiem Dev Talks About Advantages of PS5 Hardware; Doubling Down on DualSense

Asobo Studio talks about how the PS5's added power has helped them to use lighting more in gameplay, as well as "doubling down" on DualSense.

crazyCoconuts1005d ago

Kinda sucks having to choose between PC where I can snipe GamePass and play this for $1 with my RTX3080 or PS5 with the DualSense. I'm cheap, so that makes the decision pretty clear for me

andy851005d ago

Seems like you've just came to bash PS when you can clearly use your Dualsense on PC?

crazyCoconuts1005d ago

Bash PS? No I love PS. I love my DualSense. While you can hook up a DualSense to pc, only a handful of games take advantage of the controllers PS5 specific features like adaptive triggers

Army_of_Darkness1005d ago (Edited 1005d ago )

I'm even cheaper! I'm gonna wait till it's half price before I get it on my PS5! Cause the dualsense controller will always be the best way to play 🙌✌️😎

FinalFantasyFanatic1005d ago

@crazycoconuts,
Wouldn't the PC version of this game be able to use the DualSense features since they had to develop it for the Playstation anyway? It'd be a waste not to port those features alongside the game.

MIDGETonSTILTS171005d ago

I’m the opposite: I cough up cash for the best experience.

ClayRules20121005d ago

Man, Coconuts, regardless of you being cheap “Your words” lol, why not support this dev team, the right way?

This game, much like the original, I have faith, will be just as good as the original (and in ways better) although overall better, well, that remains to be seen haha.

But for real, this is a game that deserves full support, knowing the team behind it is still giving all their love, hard and respect to this world, the characters etc. fans I don’t doubt will be deeply moved.

crazyCoconuts1005d ago

@clay yeah you've got a good point, you're right on all counts. Maybe I'll bite the bullet on this one

ocelot071005d ago

I can see where your coming from. I use the £1 gamepass as a extended demo for games I I'm unsure about.

For example the Yakuza games. Always wondered about them but never played them. They all went in gamepass while I had a £1 a month sub. I tried one enjoyed it and bought a few off then on playstation giving the Devs much deserved sales.

Games like back 4 blood saved me from buying the game. As I didn't see the value in it. I did pick it up many months later on playstation when it was dirt cheap.

ClayRules20121005d ago

No hate, Coconuts, you’re a cool guy! Just wanted to share those points with you is all.

Anyways, hope you have a great weekend, bud! Stay safe out there!🙏🏼

RedDevils1005d ago (Edited 1005d ago )

Life is short, stop been cheap and enjoy it. Unless your income is under 30k a year, spending on games is the last thing of your worries. And if you're want to save money, you could always use that $1 gamepass to see if the game good, and if you enjoy it wait for sale and buy it to experience on PS5 if you so desired.

CobraKai1005d ago

I am a man of expensive tastes. Where’s that Dual Sense Edge?
Seriously tho, I feel that Dual Sense has been criminally underutilized, especially for multi platform games.

I still remain lukewarm on this game. I did finish the first game but I had to kinda force my way through it.

I thought the voice acting was a bit ropey and the gameplay got quite repetitive so overall I felt the game was pretty average. I haven't seen much from this sequel that suggests much of an improvement in these areas in my opinion.

SyntheticForm1005d ago

I liked the planning and puzzling of each encounter; thinking of what to use and how and when. It's stealth game with a good story and visuals. Quite a clever final boss fight as well.

The combat certainly wasn't amazing but it didn't have to be. Rat control felt a bit imprecise also. All in all a solid linear adventure in a highly detailed and interesting setting.

Looking forward to the sequel.

LoveSpuds1004d ago (Edited 1004d ago )

Glad you enjoyed it squire, as I said, I didn't hate it, it's just that I personally thought it was really average in some aspects.

I will say, I agree that the setting really was interesting. I am hopeful that the sequel improves the gameplay but from what I have seen of the voice acting, I feel it hasn't really been improved upon

Nice... I just bought Evil West a couple months ago but never opened it. Now I won't have to. And i hear good things about Plague Tale.

crazyCoconuts545d ago

Plagues Tail Req is good. One of my favorite Dual Sense trigger effects on the slingshot.

--Onilink--545d ago

Nobody Saves the World is amazing too, SkillUp did a great review of it

Samonuske545d ago

On the same boat with evil west still have it unopened.

FinalFantasyFanatic544d ago (Edited 544d ago )

I already bought Evil West on PC just recently, I've owned Nobody Saves the World for a long time, I really loved the first Plague Tale game, I was waiting for it to hit $30 on Steam before I bought it.

Considering the games, this is one of the best months we've had in a while.

thorstein544d ago

I have every one of these on my wishlist. This is great!

I loved the first Plague Tale.

Better late, than never I guess.

andy85776d ago

This is impressive to be honest. Even very powerful PCs were struggling with this. I'd be interested to see what sacrifices it has. Probably resolution? I played it at 40 and it was fun, probably in the top 2 best looking games I've played. I bet it's a great experience at 60

LOGICWINS776d ago

Glad I waited. Will never support a game that doesn't have a performance mode.

CS7776d ago

I really wish I could understand the science behind how much I don’t care about performance mode.

60 to 30 makes no difference to me after two minutes of playing.

So strange to see that its a literal dealbreaker for most.

andy85776d ago

Your eyes do adapt a little but you never fully get rid of the feeling of the camera moving like sludge when panning the camera. At least I don't anyway. As a console player I was on 30 all the time but since the I got my PS5 I've played one game below 60 which was this game at 40. I tried it at 30 for a few hours (was lucky enough my 120hz TV was delivered the day after) and I really wasn't enjoying myself like I should be

JEECE776d ago

The feel and responsiveness of gameplay makes no difference to you?

Knushwood Butt776d ago

The big shock is going from 60 to 30.

I recently went from Far Cry 5 at 60fps, to Far Cry New Dawn at 30fps, and no joke, when first playing New Dawn it felt like the game was totally broken. I did get used to it after about 10 mins, but at first it's a night and day difference.

mkis007776d ago (Edited 776d ago )

I mean you literally see less per second. On average someone playing at a higher fps would perform better in an fps.

Personally playing jedi fallen order and now survivor at 60fps is way easier on harder difficulties. You need to block and dodge at a moments notice, having those extra frames is a built in handicap.

CobraKai776d ago

Same here. It all becomes the same to me. As long as 30 fps is, for the most part, stable, I’m good.

Babadook7775d ago (Edited 775d ago )

“I really wish I could understand the science behind how much I don’t care about performance mode.”

Motion smoothing on your TV perhaps? I would always disable it even if it shows more judder. But it will make 30 fps look mostly smooth.

philm87776d ago

Just depends on the type of game for me. Can quite happily play this type of game at 30FPS.

Obscure_Observer776d ago

It´s time to revisit Amicia and Hugo.

jznrpg776d ago

I still haven’t played this yet . Sounds like a good time now maybe this summer
