From IGN: "Since its introduction in 2016, the Dragon Engine has been crucial to defining the look and feel of the series. However, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio [RGG Studio] and series executive producer Masayoshi Yokoyama acknowledges that it’s time for a “major update.”
“The Dragon Engine at this point is kind of a bit of an old engine. We have made a lot of minor updates over the years for it, or we've made a lot of minor updates over it, but we haven't made any major updates. So probably next what's coming for would be a major update if we had to do anything,” Yokoyama says."

Sega is set to remove several major Like A Dragon games, along with Persona 5 Tactica, from Xbox Game Pass in November.
Playing Man with no name now. Don't know if I have time for Ishin. Just glad P3R isn't leaving
I love the series, but Tactica was just not my thing. I love tactical games - Xcom, Shadowrun, Hard West etc - but it was just generic feeling. I also love the Yakuza series, but I stick with the mainline games. The Like A Dragon games didn't really interest me, though I may give them a shot sometime down the road.
As a Yakuza/Like a Dragon fan, the opportunity to check out the real-life Kabukichō, the location of Kamurocho in-game, couldn't be missed.

Another long running proprietary engine (might) bites the dust.
UE5 ... UE5, everywhere
Ah come on. Like a Dragon looked great on current gen. Just optimize the engine a bit more, add some raytracing, and add some form of DRS.
I get that Unreal is easy to work with, and it's kept up-to-date, but it's sad to see all these in-house engines go.
