GoldenEye 007 is coming to Xbox Game Pass with 4K resolution

Was hoping for a graphics cleanup, this game in 4k might not look too hot. We shall see though, I am happy for the frame rate update.

4k will make things look sharper, but also accentuate the imperfections. The smoother frame rate has me sold.

With zero graphical updates, this is more lazy filler nobody was asking for. Such an amazing game to be shown so little love in a remastering. Now if they had even updated just the graphics to look maybe like say borderlands artstyle, we’d feel like this was really something big to look forward to, but instead this comes off to me as more uninspired filler content to say “we have something”.

4k will make the edges of the blocky, extremely low poly models even clearer, less pixelated, but the textures will still be just as blurry, which were already blurry at SD resolution, but in 4K... it will stick out like a sore thumb.

Won't look that great sadly. Already tested with an N64 emulator with upscaling. They really should have remade it.

They did - for 360 complete with some new textures, 60 fps, abd new character models like the Perfect Dark remake. Then it never got released due to licensing problems

What I seriously don't get is that they remade this for the 360, it's already out there for us to play on emulators, is this that remake at 4K? Or the OG N64 one at 4K? If it's the OG one then whhhhhhhhhy!!!!! Why not just spruce up the remake they did...would have made a hell of a lot more sense....

Except the Switch version also gets online multiplayer, which sadly won't be coming to xbox.

Honestly, with these visuals, Switch is the way to go. On xbox, on your 60" TV this will hurt your eyes and ruin your fond memories of what WAS a great game BACK THEN!

It's also only the ROM, I'd gladly forgo online play to play the actual remaster and not this version at 10fps, still a weird decision to not have MP in the xbox version.

Obviously some sort of licensing issue has prevented online play on Xbox… which is especially odd if rare are making it. Oh well, old school split screen it is.

Get the GoldenEye 007 XBLA version online and run it on a Xenia emulator. This GoldenEye version has updated graphics. Played it with an Xbox controller on PC and was cool with the updated graphics.

Great for the switch, not so great for Xbox. The ability to not only play this campaign on a portable but have online play as well is a huge win for the switch version. This game will also look so much better on the smaller display. Microsoft got stripped on this one.

I'd take a remake. Wouldn't bother with this. I have the original on Nintendo and trust me, it hurts your eyes, the textures are appalling by today's standards and 4k won't fix that without a rebuild.

LOVED it back then. Give me a full remake, this will only ruin my memories of it. Bring it up to today's standards. This game needs it - and deserves it - far more than most!

Two completely separate versions of the game. Nintendo version is based off the 4:3 ROM Xbox version is a complete 16:9 remaster. Xbox version too will see a multiplayer coming. (keep an eye out for an actual new instalment with multiplayer to be announced much later)
