I have a bunch of my older consoles hooked up to a nice CRT in my mancave of a basement and on drinking nights a bunch of us still make nights of playing games like OG Halo and Mario Kart 64.
Why wouldn't it still work 20yrs later? Direct connection console to console is the safest and most reliable way to play multiplayer. I remember plenty of LAN parties on the OG box, they are some of my fondest memories of gaming. That was way before flat panel led tvs were around. There were so many times we lugged old tube tvs to a friends house just to play halo. Them old tvs were heavy. It took dedication to want to pack them suckers around!
The good ol days of an all nighter LAN party. We usually lugged in four TVs with Xbox’s in tow and set them up in four different rooms. Food, Drinks and a lots of fun.
