Opinion: Why the PlayStation Home Beta Sucks

Binge Gamer: "Imagine taking the Sims and removing the god factor and the ability to control multiple characters at once. Then, make it so the player must now pay for any add-ons to his house and solitary character using money-real money. Basically, imagine taking the Sims and sucking all the fun from it (and introducing some economics).

Well, in a nutshell, that's what PlayStation Home is. Sure, it looks pretty (the graphics bear a striking resemblance to the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series), but when it comes down to it, Home is straight-up lame. Here's why:"

Wow again? Home isn't a game for f*ck sakes.Stop comparing it to one.

Home before anything else is a virtual chatroom. That's what it is and always was ment to be,everything else from the cinema, bowling, pool, music to your personal apartment is just to make it seem a little more "in depth"

If you can't find enjoyment walking around talking to be people, getting to know what games they play, where their from, their life stories etc.

Then you should just stamp 'Anti-Social moron' to your forehead.

The article is about his antisocial behavior and the fact he believes home is an "game".

The main point of HOME is to interact with people you don't know! I have made several friends just by goofing around. Later HOME will be a Melting Pot of people and GAMES. Red Bull, and several other companies will have there spots inside HOME that will have "Games" in them. Fun is getting to know people and playing games with them after you meet them. It takes time! Have patience and you will see. Wise words to live by.

So, I Finally Played Home

I chose Home not because of its production values or reviews, but because, well, it’s short. I needed a game to start my new approach on the right foot and read that Home takes less than two hours to beat.

Whatever my reasons for finally installing Home, I found it to be an enjoyable yet flawed title.
