So the new Tomb Raider game will be using Unreal Engine 5 cool but im sure this new TR game will be very woke

Mobis-New-Nest1065d ago

How woke are we talking here? I need to prepare myself incase I hyperventilate and need to call 911.

jartoon1065d ago

Oh wow, didnt realize there were still people who bitch about things being "woke"... What does that mean to you nowadays? More black people? Less cleavage? Are these really major concerns of yours?

babadivad1064d ago

Identity politics trumping story. There was always "diversity" in gaming. "Woke" has been politics at the expense of telling a good story.

It's literally ruined every industry it has gotten a foothold in. Gaming isn't immune to this.

Look at the comics book industry as a prime example. I can't believe there are still people who believe this isn't a real problem.

Woke: Bringing unrelated social activism and commentary into completely unnecessary situations.

Eg. My friend brought an LGBTQ poster and stuck it on my grandmother’s casket during the funeral. The family was upset because he is too woke.

Aloymetal1064d ago

Lmao, so true even though I like these series very much I think the devs got really confused with Lara's companion.
In the 1st game he was hawaiian or at least looked that way, then the next game came and he was black and by the 3rd game he looked Peruvian or Mexican. He'd probably be Chinese on the next game...

It sucks that we have to wait for a properly U5 title

Orchard1064d ago

Should be most games soon. Realistically UE4 will likely die off this year or next.

Eonjay1064d ago

I would like to see that happen but looking at the Switch and last gen I can see UE4 sticking around for some time. It may be some time before UE5 becomes more common. There was talk of ue5 on the switch but unfortunately I think they even with an upgraded switch we're going to be stuck on ue4.

Orchard1064d ago

UE5 does support Switch:

https://www.unrealengine.co...

“What platforms does UE5 support?

You can run the Unreal Editor on Windows, macOS, and Linux.”
