Sonic remaster developer says he’s ‘very unhappy about the state’ of Sonic Origins

From VGC: "One of the key developers involved in the remasters featured in Sonic Origins has said the whole team is unhappy with the condition of the final product.

The compilation was released on Thursday and includes remasters of Sonic, Sonic 3, Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic CD.

The Sonic CD remaster was originally developed by Christian Whitehead using his Retro Engine, while Sonic 1 and 2 were developed by Whitehead and Headcannon Games. Headcannon then confirmed in April that it had remastered Sonic 3 & Knuckles for the upcoming Sonic Origins."

The animated cutscenes are great but they are only for the start and end of the game? I mean really? They could have really told these stories well if they were at the end of each Zone.

Even characters, they featured Amy a lot on the promo material yet she’s not playable, mods have done this already, why can’t SEGA

You know... I just don't get it anymore...

All this power these consoles have, all the years we have been playing video games and all these developers.... yet they can hardly get it right anymore!

No one is creative anymore even when they have the damn blueprint! Wtf is going on? No one can deliver and when they do it's about to be a whole new start to another gen...

Off topic... I wish I understood the process of 1st party development cause I really don't get it.. how a company like Microsoft launch a new console yet none of the devs are ready or have a clue on how to use it? I been gaming since atari.. and damn near every launch of every console is dry as helllll until new consoles are about to come out to only start the clueless cycle all over again..

Think with your pockets first
Change music to curb costs
Charge almost full price for games that can be bought elsewhere for less

I won't buy this collection because I already own these games through other means and prefer the original versions. Even the Steam version of CD has fun mods to make the game more fun.

I didn't know this existed and got pretty hyped for a Sonic 3 remaster once it's patched but after reading that line im not even gonna look any of it up. Screw that nonsense

I don't understand why they rush these Sonic games so hard. Both the 2D and 3D games COULD be good but every single game has such strict and absurd deadlines

It seemed their arrogance working with western indie developer still alive after all these years.
They sabotaged Saturn and lost hardware divison now they going to burn bridge with indie dev.
Even their company's mascot got dragged through the mud so many times and even Hollywood did Sonic justice much better than Sega can at the moment and that's sad as hell.

I've played Sonic Origins on Switch, docked to my LG CX OLED TV. Without Black Frame Insertion, the game looks terrible. Its a blurry mess of vaseline smeared all over the screen during motion, when standing still it looks perfectly fine, so you won't notice it in screenshots. This doesn't apply to the 2011 Sonic CD Remaster on consoles or PC, where the game scrolls wonderfully well.

However, once I turn on Black Frame Insertion, it helps improve the blurriness quite a bit. But it shouldn't be a necessary feature to use just to get decent visuals! This is a very poor port that Headcannon should have made themselves instead of Sonic Team.

I love classic Sonic games, but until the blurriness is fixed, I can't recommend this game. What a shame.

So rush the game to meet a deadline and patch as you go I expected more from Sega. I'll just stick to my model 1 Genesis with Sonic 1,2,3, Sonic and Knuckles carts, and I will stick with my model 2 Sega CD to enjoy Sonic CD the old Sonic games at least they were built with quality.
