Trepang2 Demo Gameplay Reveals A Very Enjoyable Carnage Fest

This was an interesting game as there is stealth, solid action, and the ability to cloak and Bullet Time enemies.

Really looking forward to this game and scratch my FEAR(4) itch.
The alpha demo was really good and satisfying.

I got vibes of F.E.A.R. but it did not have the Supernatural element. I like that Stealth can be an option versus a requirement as I prefer a run and gun approach.

RaidenBlack1057d ago

As far as I recall, the early Trepang2 demo and teaser had minute supernatural moments (locker doors opening and other small stuffs) in one corridor. Yet to play the latest updated demo though.
And in your playthrough I see they've kept the spooky sombre bg music and the weird video segments reminiscent of FEAR 1.

I think that may come as I think they want you to think it is some secret government program but I think as it unfolds you will find things are much darker than at first thought.

porkChop1057d ago

Agreed, F.E.A.R. was my first thought. I don't think I've heard of Trepang but it looks really good.

No word yet, but having played it, it would be quite the challenge to map the controls to a controller, there's quite a few combat moves along with everything else that just seems like too much for a controller

Garethvk1057d ago

I would say it may be the directional pad may work but I prefer not to play FPS on consoles as that is exactly how it can be complicated.

At this point I’d play the game like it was Call or Duty and ignore any special moves while mapping them to the worst buttons imaginable.

Single player Linear shooters, especially third person shooters, are few and far between and by-far the biggest casualty of the Fortnite Wars. 😅

porkChop1057d ago

We really need more buttons on controllers. Add like 4 pressure sensitive grip triggers on the back, 2 per side. That way we can get more games with leaning while still having room for 2 extra abilities. So many possibilities.

Garethvk1057d ago

Right now it is just PC but that like most indies can change if it does well enough and they get enough revenue to make it happen.

ZycoFox1057d ago

Soldier of Fortune 2 had better gore in 2002, looks an interesting game but if all the environments are dark and enclosed like that I can feel maybe it will get boring quickly.

Garethvk1057d ago

SOF was a solid franchise but the third game being a value priced and bad quality release pretty much ended the franchise.

RaidenBlack1057d ago

This is being made by a tiny indie studio and the dark n enclosed environments is reminiscent of the first F.E.A.R game.
This project is sort of a tribute to FEAR 1.

One of the best shooters of recent memory, and at a fairly low price to boot.

“Trepang2” has just dropped its “Bladekisser” DLC for PC and consoles

"The Wakefield-based (the UK) indie games publisher/developer Team 17 and Vancouver-based (Canada) indie games developer Trepang Studios, are today very happy and excited to announce that they have just released the “Bladekisser” DLC for their grisly, supernatural action shooter “Trepang2” (the “Bladekisser” DLC is available right now for PC and consoles via digital stores)." - Jonas Ek, TGG.

Trepang 2 Reveals Bladekisser DLC

The base game was fun so hoping for good things from the DLC. Trepang Studios and Team17 Digital have revealed the latest DLC for the hit action-packed FPS, Trepang 2, with Bladekisser. Shoot and slice your way through enemies and embark on new missions in new areas, and engage in close, brutal combat with your sword.

Easily the best fps since Doom (2016)

Garethvk318d ago

Lots of fun and mission options. It will be interesting to see the new content.

TheNamelessOne318d ago

Awesome game. Bring on more content.

Hopefully the first of more to come.
