Capcom has made the Resident Evil games widely available, and others developers should do the same for the sake of video game preservation.

100% agree. It was also nice to see a trio of free upgrades after all the paid upgrades and $70 games of recent times.

Let’s see how they price RE4.

CrimsonWing69274d ago

RE4 will be full price. I’m not sure why you think it wouldn’t be.

RickRoland274d ago

It's just an attempt to dig Sony and TLOU1 Remake

jBlakeeper274d ago

I think he means whether it will be 60 or 70 dollars.

CrimsonWing69274d ago (Edited 274d ago )

@jBlakeepeer

It’ll be $70, that’s the next-gen price for games.

The only variation of this I’m seeing are things on Xbox are mostly $60 (not EA or Activision games) everything on PS5 is $70. I don’t believe that will last for Xbox, but next-gen pricing is $70. 100% guarantees this will be $70.

Orchard273d ago

@Crimson Apologies, I may have been unclear, I meant $60 vs $70 - I'm not expecting it to be sub 'full price'. Will it be $70? I dunno. Village next-gen wasn't, but that was also a cross-gen game whereas RE4 won't be. On the other hand, Capcom has been extremely consumer friendly the past few years, so lets see.

@RickRoland Not everything is about TLOU1. There are other games out there. It sounds like you yourself are insecure about the price.

It will be 70. Let's not kid ourselves here.

@Rick Roland
Yep. And surprise! It's a gamerant article.

Orchard273d ago

Will it though? Village wasn't. Capcom have yet to launch a $70 game AFAIK.

CrimsonWing69273d ago

See, this is where the industry showed just how scummy this price hike was. There’s absolutely 0 justification for it other than they’re pushing to see what they can get away with. No other media has gone up $10 and I don’t care how they try to justify it, the fact they had two different pricing points is proof it’s complete BS.

Look at this though, last-gen version of Modern Warfare 2 is $70. If anything I can see next-gen versions being $70 and last-gen versions being $60, but once this cross-gen crap is done you’ll be paying that next-gen price for everything.

Orchard273d ago

The MW2 thing is a complete farce, especially after recent CODs being $60 for last gen - it's even $70 for PC. But also not surprising given it's Bobby Kotick + Activision.

pietro1212273d ago

RE4 will be full price and why wouldn’t it be?

Orchard273d ago

But will it be $60 or $70? That is the question.

Yes please and support physical as much as possible because once our only option is digital y'all can just imagine how greedy these publishers could become

MadLad274d ago (Edited 274d ago )

You can't monetize the people who go the emulation route.

Bigman4k274d ago (Edited 274d ago )

I agree but i don't think you should worry about physical games going away anytime soon now maybe once PS6 & Xbox Series X 2 gets here then maybe you should start worrying because i do think at some point Sony & Microsoft will make digital only game systems

neutralgamer1992273d ago

Hopefully it's way further out. The first company to go all digital only will need some great PR because the blowback will be severe

Bigman4k273d ago

We'll just have to see what happens between now and 5yrs from now

MadLad274d ago (Edited 274d ago )

I don't think the proper way to preserve videogames is companies reselling you old content, time and again, every generation or so.
The free upgrades they just rolled out were nice, but these sorts of updates are still a new thing that came from the next gen refreshes and forward. Waiting to see if the majority of the industry just use it as another way to make some profit moving forward.

This article has a tinge of irony considering what they just tried to pull with Resident Evil 2, though they rightly went back on it. Doesn't even mention it, strangely.
