"The Denver-based Collorado, the US) video games publisher Ziggurat Interactive and the US-based indie games developer Poppy Works, today announced with great thrill and happiness that their retro-like 2.5D side-scrolling Mech Shooter "Slave Zero X" (an exciting new action title set in the same world of the original "Slave Zero" from 1999), is in development for PC and consoles." - Jonas Ek, TGG.
Review - Slave Zero X will put a smile on the face of those who played the original in the late '90s; it oozes a distinct biopunk style
"Prepare for a lesson in brutality as today Ziggurat Interactive, publisher of multiplatform retro and modern games, announces the launch of the wonderfully brutal biopunk title "Slave Zero X" on Nintendo Switch." - Ziggurat Interactive.
This has been the weirdest resurgence of an IP I've ever seen. Especially an obscure title like Slave Zero. First a cool Mecha action game with ton of potential that came out like 25 years ago. Then an FPS Quake mod as a sort of primer for a 2D brawler in Slave Zero X. And only Slave Zero X is the one getting a retail release... OK, then.
Honestly? I would love a Re-Make/Sequel/Re-Imagine of the original, merged with the Quake mod. Think Titanfall 2, but instead of a linear experience, make it more like the Master Blaster games.
As for Slave Zero X? No offense but this is actually the weakest and most baffling of the three. So skip it.
I just really want the first games, wonder if they'll ever rerelease those in any capacity.
Hope you're hungry for a challenge.
