Horizon Call of the Mountain could have just been a sight-seeing adventure, but the inclusion of bow combat turns it into an unmissable VR title.
The game plans to take "atmosphere, storytelling, player agency, and narrative into ground-breaking territory on next-generation hardware."
They talking PS6? It’s say next gen.
I don’t mind devs going for hyper realistic graphics but they better make the game fun.
How is this news? We've known about this project since before the team was acquired by Sony.
I wonder if it’s bound for PSVR2? I’m intrigued.
But I didn’t love Call of the Mountain as much as I thought I would. It’s not in the same ballpark as RE8 VR IMO. Obviously this will have a different director than that game and I am hopeful for deeper gameplay mechanics and better balancing.
I really wonder why they don't create solid games in PSVR2, Very capable but only gimmicky, bland games available. alot of games should be able to be ported over. Seeing how GT7 has made a huge splash and impact on the platform. I feel like Sony needs to really push Devs to consider the compatibility FPS games "COD/Battlefield" would be next level in VR.
The flagship Amazon deal is the PS5 Slim for $449. That’s a $50 saving and matches Amazon’s lowest-ever price for the powerful game console. Meanwhile, the PS5 Slim Digital Edition is on sale for $399, that’s also $50 off. There’s an even bigger saving on the PSVR 2 which is currently $200 off, now just $349. Or, for an extra $50, you can get the Horizon Call of the Mountain Bundle for $399 which includes the VR headset and one of the best PSVR 2 games.
VGChartz's Lee Mehr: "2023 was a notable year for VR hardware, with both Sony's PSVR2 and Meta's Meta Quest 3 arriving on the scene. Both of them have primarily earned a considerable amount of praise for their technological advancements, but that's not to say their software output was extinct. Granted, early adoption tends to favor older ports with improved visuals and new controller/headset gimmicks; it comes with the territory. But within that flow of ports and updates came an exclusive for each respective platform reaching our shortlist. It's too early to tell if that presages a bountiful surplus of future masterclass VR games, but it's a welcoming sign all the same."
“Horizon Call of the Mountain” had more bells and whistles and has some wow moments for VR newbies. But I had more fun playing “Synapse”.
The bow should be great in this. Bow's work well in VR games and with the adaptive, pressure-sensitive triggers of the new Sense controllers, it's gonna be even better.
The climbing should be good too, with those hand picks, and I'm looking forward to using them on a zip line. Whole thing looked beautiful.
The bow combat was a sight to see. I believe it’ll just add to the overall VR experience, to bring a closer connection to the characters (feel like the character more) but adds another level of immersion to the world/action. I’m so glad we have
I think the climbing might make me feel a bit to immersed in the world (sense of fear on the end of a high mountain ledge haha) but I look forward to it all.
So much beauty to explore in what looks to be a great VR game.
It should have been obvious they would add it as bow mechanics work well in motion games and VR. Sony demonstrated bow mechanics all the way back from the first E3 demo of PS Move on PS3 with Anton Mikhailov nocking and killing undead knights at the end of the video

And then the release of Sports Champions which had great bow mechanics. Now, many VR games have great bow mechanics. Playing a Horizon game connected to the main game without a bow would not have gone well using a spear or knife or nothing at all. So I expected a bow in this game. Which will be great with the new controllers.
I wonder how they'll handle it. Bow was OP in SkyrimVR since you could just Legolas everything but damn was it fun doing that.
Bow combat is one of the best working gameplay mechanics in VR. There's no way to mess this up.
