Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered – State of Play June 2022 Announce Trailer I PC Games

Tedakin713d ago

Every exclusive will come to PC eventually.

Yes especially since Spiderman is coming. That's Sony's biggest IP, I mean that's one of the biggest entertainment IP in the world

But i think each game/ip will not follow same release schedule. Some games may end on PC 6 months after launch, some 12 and some maybe even later

KeyAppearance713d ago

yeah, definitely, I think the window is going to get shorter too as the time goes on. Games will release much sooner hopefully.

sparky77713d ago

Yep this was the one game I thought might skip PC, but if this is coming EVERY game is coming.

darthv72713d ago

looks like both Spidey and Miles are hitting PC this year. SM in August and Miles in the Fall, prob November some time.

Extermin8or3_713d ago

See absolutely no sign of this. They basically have 2 support studios it seems working on ports and seem somewhat limited by that. I mean its clear insomniac will have had almost nothing todo with this port as they have far too much else going on. Absolutely 0 sign of ratchet and clank on pc at present. This is essentially a 5 year old game and no mention of miles morales. (I expect that will come to pc next spring just before across the spoderverse part 1 releases) unless Spiderman 2 on ps5 is scheduled for q1 2023. Uncharted 4 and lost legacy are also due on pc that's a what 2015 or 2016 game? So 6 years ago. As yet no sign of Nathan Drake collection, infamous, ghost of tsushima among others. Horizon might get s release latter part of next year although my money eould be on the year after. So that eoukd still be a 2 year gap ...

darthv72713d ago

@extermin8or... this game is not 5y old. You are thinking of the original version. This is remasterd and only came out when Miles did. And yes Miles is coming to PC. Its in the official ps blog.

As for R&C, what makes you think it cant come to PC? If its the ssd, there are better ones on PC now. It prob will after they finish wolverine (which will likely come to pc as well). Sony wants to make $$ and these newer games are built with advancing pc tech in mind.

Not the case for every game. Remember Sony have left it up to there teams to decide if they want there games on PC. Polyphony Digital for example don’t want to be on PC as it’s to open for cheating, modding etc.

MADGameR713d ago

That would mean that TLOU is never coming to PC as it has the multiplayer. And you know these PC nobs will ruin the experience with their cheating and modding.

VerminSC713d ago

It’s funny that people are willing to wait years to get a game they think looks great. I just must not be patient enough. Why wait when you can buy a PS5 for the price of a graphics card?

Grievous713d ago

Maybe a budget graphics card haha. Really hope things change with the new cards coming out.

Vegamyster713d ago

That’s assuming someone can find one lol, that said if you’re only interested in a handful of games then why would someone dish out a decent chunk of change to be able to play them if they can save that money and still play them eventually? Gaming is a luxury after all.

darthv72713d ago

I just got my steam deck. This will be worth the wait to play it on the go.

Christopher713d ago

Sure. But I'd rather not wait the years and enjoy it on my PS5.

outsider1624713d ago

I think 6 months- 1 year to wait is good enough. Can you stretch it to 2..sure maybbeee. But 3 -5 years? And at full price when on console its already cheap? No thanks.

lonewolf10713d ago

Plenty of games on PC to tide people over till they get released, but if you must have things now then a PS5 will be needed. Personally I can see the gap narrowing from years to 12 months or less on PS games coming to PC, again not that it matters with the amount to play on PC. Interesting times for sure.

Orchard713d ago

Agreed. They're just timed exclusives at this point, and sooner or later they will be day 1. More people experiencing more great games, and investing more in the ecosystem is a good thing for all.

Extermin8or3_713d ago

5 years..... and there are plenty of titles that seem to be nowhere in sight of releasing on pc.

Orchard713d ago

You’re right that they have a backlog of games to port. But the rate of porting has upticked and Sony themselves said in their recent investor presentation that by 2025 50% of their revenue will be from non-PS console games.

RosweeSon713d ago

Sooner or later. Yeah later they’ve gone from 3 years to 4 years now people seem to think that means they’ll be knocking them out quicker 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣

CaptainHenry916713d ago (Edited 713d ago )

As much as I would like that to happen I doubt PS exclusives hit PC day one. For example God of War or Horizon Forbidden West? This will be a case by case basis unfortunately

lonewolf10713d ago

Seems everyone thinks waiting for years will always be the case, going by Sony's acquisitions lately I don't think that will hold for much longer, but who knows.

Brazz713d ago (Edited 713d ago )

Likely...
Now playstation is a console of "timed exclusives" and Xbox have "no exclusives" at all.
Only Nintendo, and PC (lol), will have true exclusives.... Looks at switch Emulation.... perhaps Nintendo is unofficially joining PC??

713d ago
Flewid638713d ago

Word. I have a PS5 for the games I want immediately, and a PC in the event I want to wait. Win-win.

RosweeSon713d ago

4 years later, fill your boots

Flewid638713d ago

Right? I know I still plan on still being a gamer in 4 years. lol.

CaptainHenry916713d ago

It would be better if it was day one though just like Microsoft exclusives

itsmebryan713d ago

That's great news. This and horizon were the only 2 ps exclusives I was interested in.

JeffGUNZ713d ago

Yeah, as they should. Sony really isn't competing in the PC realm, it only is a gain for them.

gangsta_red713d ago

I'm sure the release times for Sony games for PC will get shorter. Right now their PC studios are working on porting Sony's backlog of games.

I can see in a few years or so Sony having simultaneous first party releases for console and PC.

SDuck713d ago

After trying Ghost of Tsushima on my friend's ps4, I can't see how will they port the controls to work on a xbox controller which has no touchpad.

Tacoboto713d ago

Will they ever separate this into its own SKU on the PS Store? It's still locked behind the Miles Morales Ultimate Edition (and the in-game dashboard for those who only got the base MM)

NotanotherReboot713d ago

cant wait to play this using Microsoft Windows 11!!!

"Sony might port some IPs to PC but not major ones like Spider-Man" ~ an old comment, few months ago.
Looks like, The Times They Are A-Changin'

itsmebryan713d ago

I don't understand why people thought Sony would leave that much money sitting on the table.

iNcRiMiNaTi713d ago

All their other games have been on both so far and there are rumors of Sony having a playstation app in the works

Christopher713d ago

That might just be an extension of PSNow where you can download PC versions of games from there similar to downloading PS4/PS5 versions on the console.

lonewolf10713d ago (Edited 713d ago )

@Christopher

Why would PC owners pay for that if we have to wait years for the games to come to PC?

Christopher713d ago

@lonewolf: because it's better than streaming it if the option exists? The assumption is that you are paying for the service in the first place which allows access to games not on PC, PS4, or PS5.

Sonyslave3713d ago (Edited 713d ago )

It comes with miles too 👀

darthv72713d ago

Miles is coming in the Fall

Orchard713d ago (Edited 713d ago )

It’s in the PS blog post: https://blog.playstation.co...

“Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered will launch on PC on August 12, 2022 while Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will launch on PC in Fall 2022.”

Not sure why they didn’t include that in the trailer / live stream. Also don’t think it’s a bundle but two separate purchases.

The Death Of Arkham Has Me Worried About Spider-Man

Saad from eXputer: "After the rise of Rocksteady and its fall with post-Suicide Squad, I'm worried about Marvel's Spider-Man suffering a similar fate."

Hofstaderman41d ago

Why? According to the well publicized Insomniac leaks they have a slew of plans for Spiderman including its sequel.

CrimsonWing6941d ago

The sequel has had rumors that it could be sold piecemeal style or might be GaaS.

https://youtu.be/XCFr3KRB9G...

This is all coming from the leaks you mentioned. The problem is the industry is not doing well no matter how ill-informed people spin it on here when they see “sold 3 mill.” In those Sony leaks it showed the struggle to get ROI and they spend an insane amount of money to develop, which makes 0 sense to me when there’s not much to show for the increased development costs. Case in point would be Suicide Squad vs Arkham Knight.

I believe we’re in the middle of seeing a drastic change in media and distribution. This goes for movies, but more so for games and the industry is scrambling to figure out how to get more money out of consumers rather than stick to the “buy it once” to play it all.

https://www.gamesindustry.b...

https://www.theverge.com/20...

These are things you need to pay attention to in order to know which direction the wind’s blowing with this sh*t storm. I was almost certain the GaaS initiative was killed when Jim was leaving, but now seeing the success of Helldivers 2… I’m thinking we’re in for a bumpy ride. I just don’t know what that looks like yet, but I don’t think it’s gonna be pretty.

anast41d ago (Edited 41d ago )

Insomniac still has a good generation left in them before they get cannibalized by investors. It'll probably happen around the mid PS6 gen, when we see the beginning of the fall.

dmonee41d ago

Huh with this article? If Sony and Insomniac want to abandoned the Spider-Man franchise and make a half baked, live service Spider-Man game, and miss the mark with their fans, then God bless’em!!!!

41d ago
JimmyDM9040d ago

Seems unlikely when they abandoned the GaaS spiderverse game but are still going ahead with single player games like Wolverine and Spider-Man 3.

Spider-Man 2 (2004) and Ultimate Spider-Man use to be my favorite until Insomniac games took over.

Inverno175d ago

I'd still choose Ultimate above all other games, followed by Shattered Dimensions

Abnor_Mal175d ago (Edited 175d ago )

My favorite and still champion Spiderman PS2, followed by Marvels Spiderman2, then Miles Morales, followed by Marvels Spiderman, and finally Ultimate Spiderman.

I need to drag out my PS3 and try Web of Shadows, owned the game for years and years and never played.

Shout out to cultured vultures for NOT making this 40 separate pages.

Relientk77175d ago

Spider-Man (2000), Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro, and Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions were all so good! I have fond memories playing them.
