Capcom: "Wii is for the kiddiez"

In response to a thread about wanting more "mature" Wii titles, Svensson is mum on specifics, but admits that most of their upcoming Wii line-up will steer clear of any subject that might garner an M rating.

no but playing games like pikmin and mario sunshine are pretty kiddy if u ask me.. nintendo has been going downhill since SNES and if you ask me it's just sad

I love my SNES and my nintendo 64 and then they make the gamecube with cell shaded zelda and mario sunshine and all these other kiddy games and they are doing the same thing with the wii

Yes because we all know Driver, Godfather, Manhunt2, Red steel, Call of Duty 3, Prince of Persia, and Resident Evil are kiddy games. Please give me a reason why the Wii is for kids. So Nintendo doesn't publish M rated games that doesn't mean the system can't only play M rated games. If you'd like to say the Wii is for kids at this point you might as well say the PS3 is for kids, because the Wii has more T and M rated games then the PS3.

Even if it only had E rated games it still would be a much more pleasurable experience then a lot of the M rated games.

the adults are more playing those games, kids these day play GTA and games that are equal.

papermario, a FUN rpg....so no blood who cares...i said FUN!

Pikmin, was kinda hard....i didnt finished the game...so i guess a kid could never do that( and trust me no kid has ever finished that game!)

nintendogs, for the casual gamers( its better then barbie!)

Pokemon, is a great game the anime just ruined the whole COOL thing.

zelda: windwaker( celshade) a masterpiece like all those other zelda games...

luigi'mans.....yeah.....it was a nice try to give luigi his own roll.

It is exactly this attitude, ignoring the POTENTIAL of gamers who don't emphasise on the graphics as much as the so-called "true gamers/hardcore gamers", that will keep Nintendo in the kiddie-section of things.

I consider it a fact that there is a market space of adults who would warmly embrace adult games on the system for the amazing price point it offers. There are enough people I've seen call Zelda a graphically beautiful game (which proves that you don't need HiDef for everybody) and who would die for more games like this. With the proper PR everybody could get happy. Just that the developers blame their lack of enthusiasm for promoting stuff like that solely on Nintendo.

I wish developers would wake up, truly. I mean, if Oblivion is not going graphics-wise, do a spin off, less graphics, different control scheme, hell, even true RPG fand would get excited. They could get this version TOO. For schmuck's sake, everybody should really get a little less one-dimensional about things.

Rasulis is right with that list, and if dev's choose to develop killfests on the wii then I suppose the image that gets put on nintendo by many would be shaken off.

But why people who arn't kids are so concered about the concived image of a game though is hard to understand. I would have thought mature people would be able to appriciate and enjoy a good game.
