Id say 2 is my personal favorite. The scope and scale is just incredible and the pacing is spot on.

God of War (2018) is my personal favorite!

However 2 is absolutely jaw dropping from scale and really is incredible all around, I agree.

My cousin (she wasn’t a gamer) became a gamer solely based off of God of War, the first game, and was a beast, and was beyond better than me at the games haha.

Always a joy to see how excited she gets with them and how she pulls off crazy combos, without getting hit.

1st and 2nd were great games, but my personal favourite would have to be God of war 3! The intro with the Poseidon fight was just spectacular! And believe it or not, it was my first God of war game! Haha! Played the previous 2 afterwards.
Not sure why, but I'm just having such a hard time staying interested and finishing the new God of war...

Hey, that’s awesome you loved God of War 3 that much! I personally loved (but more from a visual/technical standpoint) apart from that, it was my least favorite, after Ascension, which is a whole other story lol! I had a bad copy of 3, and the game crashed on me several times, and just had issues (but GameStop gave me a new one when I returned it the following day) and while it ran smoothly, it just didn’t do what the first 2 did for me (from a gameplay perspective) although much of its gameplay was insanely brutal and incredible in its own way, I can see that. Just wasn’t as great to me.

That’s great you enjoyed God of War 1-2 still, after having played the 3rd game first haha!

Hmmm, that’s interesting. Why do you think your having a hard time staying interested in the new game? I know one of my friends doesn’t like the approach to gameplay having changed or the camera, which I personally love. The original formula was getting repetitive and stale by 3 to me personally.

Hey, nothing wrong with being alone in saying/thinking that.

The scale of Ascension was very impressive than and still is to this day, I won’t lie.

For me personally, I’d just been burnt out and fatigued with the gameplay/formula of God of War to that point, it just felt too much the same and nothing felt too much improved upon (similar to how I felt with Uncharted 3 after playing Uncharted 2, how do you rival a masterpiece like that? Haha) but yeah, I can appreciate somethings Ascension did well, as I can Uncharted 3 and it’s been EPIC scale set piece moments (that they had of course) but those set piece moments were more impressive from a visual standpoint in the 3rd game to me than they were to actually play them; which was disappointing to say the least.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see ND do things with the PS5 and a few other Sony studios that’ll surpass Ascension in scale at some point.

I didn't hate the tone of the original games, or Kratos.
I'm just not into spectacle fighters, this they were just okay games from my perspective.

I really enjoyed the reboot though. Looking forward to the sequel.

I even state that I enjoyed the reboot and am looking forward to the sequel.

The new god of war is fun and the story is actually well written. the other one was blah, but glad you enjoyed it. It made people who werent good at games feel like they were good; mean while I was playing the hell out of Ninja Gaiden black

As Ninja Gaiden will go down as the greatest, most authentic action game in my book, but it's no GoW. I remember buying the first game when everyone was clamoring over GTA and I called it as GOTY.

Kratos is unadulterated wrath driven by a rage so pure that it's inspiring. This element alone sets him apart from Ryu Hayabusa, Dante, Neo, or Virgil. Who would ever imagine that a game would make killing a god seem so natural and inviting? Sony's done a magnificent job of not allowing the series to grow stale, I'm looking forward to the next installment.

I loved the original series when I played it as a teenager. Having revisited the games as an adult though, I felt like most of the narrative was nonsense tbh. The few moments where kratos showed remorse or restraint were so inconsistent. I remember by the 3rd game, I was really, really happy with the ending.

Repetitive puzzles, low enemy variety, reusing the same assets (fighting the same ogre boss with different color palette), boring story and writing. The best part of the game was the intro and the first Loki fight, after that it went downhill. Great graphics though.

Now there is no Loki fight because Atreus is Loki and what he is referring to is "The Stranger" aka Baldur fight. So again he has no idea about the game.

Yeah, that will be interesting to see how she’s used in the sequel, I can’t wait. I hope she forgives Kratos, but I’m also ok if she doesn’t. I do wanna fight her though haha. Only because I bet SSM could make an epic fight between them haha. Here’s hoping.

I liked what i played of Ascension. I stopped (for ??? reasons) but i do recall the last part i played was this spiral snake section where you are inside and outside of giant snakes. i really should finish it. thanks for reminding me.

Mr brother ...(an Xbox fan) played 3.(remaster) On my ps4. _couldn't get past the opening scene because his heart was beating so fast, he had to put the controller down.

Playing 3 for the first time (on a PS3) and seeing Ares body in the floor was just awesome. So much attention to detail then and made even better with the remaster on PS4.

I haven't played God of War 2 but In my opinion, the only thing that kept God of War 2018 from being the best is that kratos did not have a wide assortment of weapons and powers like he did in the previous games. The scale wasn't on the same level as God of War 3 either. I think the PS4 is to blame for that. It's a shame it's sequal is still coming to PS4 but let's see how it turns out.

I’m kinda glad that I’m not the only one that was not impressed by god of war on PS4. I found it rather boring to be honest.

I think it’s the gameplay. It also feels like a big escort mission.

But it was still a good action game. Just not as good as other God of Wars-in my opinion.

Ok, while I disagree and think it’s the best God of War game overall (although it was lacking in the EPIC boss fights) throughout the entirety of the game, and we did see many of the same enemies (trolls) I can say that was an issue, and a few other little things, I do think it’s the best one.

But as you said in your original comment and this one here, you still say it’s a good game and I’m glad you did enjoy some of the game, and to me, that’s better than it being a complete waste of your time. At least their was some enjoyment for you to have been had.

Tough for me. GOW2 was amazing but I have to give it to the new GOW. I love the new Third Person Action Adventure style GOW a lot more! GOW2 was great in its own way but I think I've matured from those kinda games just like how Kratos has lol. Those games took 'over the top' too literally which I loved back then but probably wouldn't work as well now.

It is a more realistic way of fighting which I actually prefer. No one usually jumps in a fight lol. GOW 2018 was near perfect and the combat was much deeper which I loved. Hack and Slash was fun but became a button mash often in the old trilogy. With the new GOW, I loved the depth of the skill tree and they made sure you mastered it if you wanted to beat the Valkyries especially Sigrun.

Damn i will be finally able to play the ps4 version (and Ragnarok) later this year, since i got myself a ps5 and a 55 qled samsung tv. Kinda late but its better, since i didnt get a ps4 cuz i was just playing on pc only, now i can play those ps4/ps5 games for free on ps pluss :D
On topic, i loved the first one, the 3rd was even better (but mostly cuz graphics were amazing by the time), then the second (i didnt play any other, well tried the ps4 one for like 15 mins on my friend house in his ps5 and was amazing, was thinking on getting it on steam, but now ill get it for free (?) on psn pluss :D ).

BTW i get the ps5 on saturday, since it was out of stock, but they had it on another city, so comming on saturday (idk how to make the time move faster :D )
