Yves Guillemot made it clear that the French publisher is not interested in an acquisition.
Developer Slavic Magic and publisher Hooded Horse announce that their city building sim Manor Lords has sold over two million copies since launch.
Still waiting for its first patch which is worrying. I know it’s been a single man developer but there’s really no excuse for no updates being released since launch. I’ve been part of many single developer releases that are updated daily, sometimes hourly. This’s hasn’t had a single one yet….
Ubisoft says they are focusing on two "core verticals," and that's to return as a leader in the open world genre, and live service games.
Calling Ubisoft a leader in open world gaming at any point in time would be like calling Dollar General a leader in retail.
I don't think they were ever the leader tbh. I've never really cared for any of their open world games. I do wanna try watch dogs 2 because it looks like it's set in San Fran. Looked interesting
Rockstar Games founder Dan Houser's new studio, Absurd Ventures, is currently working on a AAA open world action adventure game.
I'm really curious to see what he's going to do. It seems like a GTA-style game, but I wonder how it'll differentiate itself.
A new studio making a AAA game. Yea, that'll go well. I still think new studios should only make small games for a few years to build up teamwork and trust within.
Say that now until someone knocks on the door and offers a truck load of cash every company has a price.
Uh huh. Here's the thing, if someone like Facebook or Amazon comes around with a crazy offer your shareholders aren't going to say no. This isn't someone small like Vivendi was. If you wanted Ubisoft to remain a family business you shouldn't have gone public.
Right, like NFT's lol.
Stay Independent.
"We have everything we need to remain independent"
That's unfortunate.
