Bethesda and Rockstar find themselves in similar positions with The Elder Scrolls 6 and GTA 6, as there are heightened expectations to meet.
Take-Two CEO says that Rockstar Games want its upcoming open world action game, GTA VI, to be the best entertainment product ever created.
Can’t wait! Like my hype has never been this high for a game. I hope it really delivers and looks like what they’re showing. Like, I’ll finally feel like we’ve entered next-gen if it does.
I can't wait for this overblown cutscene game to come out so i never buy it and spend money on it.
Technically it looks incredible but I’m a bit disappointed that it’s turned into a franchise about heists. I miss the more carried mission structure. I miss having just one playable character too.
They're definitely gonna charge 2x. Full cost for the story. $80 Full cost for the MP. $80 complete $160 Bundle with some in game currency and Cosmetic dlc. $200
Here's why the rumored $1 billion budget for Rockstar Games' upcoming open world action game, Grand Theft Auto VI, doesn't quite add up.
"Or was it i̶n̶f̶o̶r̶m̶e̶d̶ guesswork from analysts?"
Video game budgets will always be fictional, just like Hollywood movies. Unless there are receipts it's all speculation.
And Take Two has a marketing department with an already approved budget (just like studios in Hollywood).
I don't know where they get these numbers, absolutely NO games is spending anywhere near that amount on production even including marketing. If we're talking lifetime estimates for like a 10yr plan maybe, but even that would be a very vague projection. RDR2 at the time of release cost less that GTAV did and GTAV cost about 265mil with marketing being an average of about 200-300mil each.
I believe it's somewhere around there. Cod is 700m$ to make. I think GTA could be around there if not more. The insane level of detail in the trailer says it all.
Yeah I believe it's around there personally.
Take-Two announced its financial results for the fiscal year 2025, also sharing an update on the sales of GTA5 and Red Dead Redemption 2.
The anticipation for GTA6 has reached fever pitch, with the latest trailer being the biggest video launch of all time.
Milk...get your milk...and so much more. Really when you release the same games in three editions over 15 years it's amazing how much money, and the amount of sales you earn. It's amazing how no one can compete.
No surprising considering that it’s been on every major platform and store.
I decided to look up the longest and most sold games list. To my surprise Tetris has takes the top spot.
Not really since they said they are actively developing GTA6 whereas ES6 is not going into production till after Starfield is complete
I get the sentiment, I will however say that after acquired by Xbox there's a hopefulness behind Bethesda, I hope Starfield is a return to form!
Rockstar however.. don't get me wrong, the talent they have for world building is second to none. But with their money grabbing practices lately with the GTA trilogy and the GTAV "next gen" edition, I fell they have lost their way a little.
Don't get me wrong I'm sure GTA6 will come out and be incredible, but I also know it'll be riddled with even more egregious microtransactions than GTAV was. I would expect them to creep into the single player side of things also with how greedy they are getting.
Not even close. When Rockster releases a new game its polished and ready for release. When Bethesda releases new game, well, the less said the better.
Except GTA will come out and sell an incalculable amount. ES will come out and be a buggy mess. Such is the Creation Engine.
I'll take the flak for saying it, but my expectations for gta6 are in the gutter. Gta5 had a great story and then rockstar shit the bed by not releasing any single player dlc and going hard with the online which was a disaster with connection problems for months, and overloaded with mtxs. RDR was one of my favorite games and rdr2 felt so lackluster to me, that I feel like rockstar has lost their edge.
