Forget 'Halo Infinite': 'Halo 3' Is Still the Best

Like any new Halo release, Halo Infinite has garnered a lot of traction recently, not to mention fans and critics alike. But whether deemed good or bad, not many are touting it as ranking among the top three greatest Halo games.

Halo Infinite has great gameplay but that’s where it ends. Only 7 maps in rotation and only one more coming 6 months after launch in season 2. It’s content starved and it’s only getting worse. On top of that there’s till no campaign co-op or forge mode. This is their flagship franchise we’re talking about here!

343i are slow as molasses and are a let down in general. I hope Microsoft hands the franchise to a better developer in the future.

CaptainHenry916771d ago (Edited 771d ago )

I thought Halo Infinite was good but not great. Halo hasn't been the same since the original trilogy. Halo Reach was even better imo

FinalFantasyFanatic771d ago

I loved Reach, it's my favorite Halo game, they should really try and do something like that again and leave Master chief alone for a while.

moomoo319771d ago

They nailed the core arena gameplay and campaign. Just too bad it took them 4+ years and they ddnt get to anything else smh.

porkChop771d ago

MS would be smart to send some map designers from id, Coalition, etc., over to 343 and just get a bunch of new maps out in a big update. Only 1 map every 3 months isn't going to cut it. Release a bunch of maps for 6v6 and BTB.

Jin_Sakai771d ago (Edited 771d ago )

Halo Infinite is tons of fun and the gameplay is sublime but everything else lacking, especially the content.

343i need to be restructured, hire some great talent, and get things back on track before they end up losing the franchise or even worse, shut down.

SullysCigar772d ago

Halo 3 was better by a country mile.

343i were given everything. Massive budget, massive team, massive development time, massive delay and external help from proven developers...yet they still sh!t the bed.

MIDGETonSTILTS17771d ago

Im a diehard Halo 3 fan. I never played anything after ODST.

You are wrong. Infinite is the only reason for me to leave my ps5.

Jin_Sakai771d ago

I’m a die hard Halo fan and Halo Infinite isn’t cutting it. It’s severely lacking content and the ridiculous server de synch will never get fixed because 343i are slow as molasses. Half the modes still aren’t here 6 months after the release of and already delayed game.

Halo 3, Reach, and ODST we’re all much better games. Bungie was also a far better developer than 343i.

SullysCigar771d ago

Was this flagged as inappropriate by accident? I agree with every point and all seems above board to me.

Rude-ro771d ago

It really is not.
It is a generic open world campaign and shallow PvP content.

“Maybe” infinite would have been a good filler piece after 3… but it probably because it plays like it is two gens old outside of the pixel count and resolution per the hardware you are playing on;

Viljong771d ago

Clickbait bs infinite best in series campaign

ChubbyBlade771d ago (Edited 771d ago )

Not even close. Vehicles are pointless and useless, there’s no direction to anything, a single biome and lack of exploration other than rocks and pine trees, enemies are the easiest they’ve ever been, the villains are saturday morning cartoon tier, there’s no dread or tension, the grapple hook removes the usefulness of any vehicle, the marines don’t even need you they’re so strong, half the story isn’t even in the game, it’s severely toned down and child friendly compared to the previous games etc.

Viljong770d ago

How vehicles are pointless they really suit open world and are fun easymode if you give marine rocket launcher from bases and roll on attack it is really efficent way. Heroic difficult is perfect as in every halo game. Base gameplay and combat is more more fun in open world with different approaches and strategys. Enemies and weapons are about perfect.

343 can’t touch the bungie games. Whether it’s the convoluted story where things happen off screen, turning chiefs into a super hero instead of a soldier or toning down the violence etc. they’re clearly trying to avoid its military roots. Not only that but once the honeymoon period disappeared…I saw no reason to replay the game. It’s so directionless and when there are levels with design, they’re repetitive with poor layouts.

Infinite was fun…once. No reason to replay it.

Infinite is a dumpster fire and as much as I like ODST, in no universe it ranks above Halo 2. This list is trash.

Kaii127d ago

Just exclude Infinite>5>4

ChasterMies127d ago

Best to worst: Halo 3, Halo 2, Halo Reach, Halo CE, Halo 4, Halo ODST, Halo Infinite, Halo 5.

I'm pretty used to these lists being bad, but this one is particularly s#ite.

raWfodog164d ago

I think Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon should have been added to the list.

BrainSyphoned165d ago

I'll go with,
Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Culdcept Saga, Shadow Complex, Ace Combat 6 with the flight stick,A Kingdom for Keflings, A World of Keflings.
Bonus Kinect Games: Happy Action Theater and Sesame Street.
*Skyrim was so bad on PS3 that it almost deserves to be #1*

Husker42c165d ago

I really loved Shadow Complex.

P_Bomb164d ago

Ah yes, Shadow Complex! Good indies back in the day. Summer of Arcade. I enjoyed Trials Evolution as well.

ChasterMies165d ago (Edited 165d ago )

Was this made by a.i.? No human being would put Shadowrun, Fable III, and Splinter Cell: Conviction into a list of the 7 best Xbox 360 games.

Abnor_Mal165d ago (Edited 165d ago )

Would love to play Ace Combat6 on PlayStation, but Xbox decided to buy exclusivity and keep it off a competing platform.

The only mainline game I never played except for one level at a friends place. Game sold less than any other in the series if I remember correctly.

darthv72164d ago

360 had Namco hitters AC6 and RR6... both quality titles. You should at least bust out the 360 for AC6 if you can score the flight stick. Its great.

Hofstaderman164d ago

When the current gen XBOX offering is so lacking people need to refer to games released two generations back....

Profchaos164d ago (Edited 164d ago )

It's a nostalgia peice same reason we get thousands of YouTube videos on sega genisis. Something people have fond memories for but the era is long gone.

It's xboxs golden year imo it was their genisis years the time where they stuck it to the market leaders Sony.

BehindTheRows164d ago

They stuck nothing. Sony screwed themselves giving Xbox an opening. They would have gotten the usual smack down if the PS3 had launched at $399 and was easier to develop for.

Great platform, and many of its games (not bc) still hold up well to this day. Like the PS3, I keep a 360 hooked up for those games you can't play any other way.

isarai176d ago

The last gasp of greatness from XBox, you are missed, except the RROD that was lame, but amazing exclusives until the Kinect dropped.

TheBrainZ176d ago

So many brilliant games. I still have one stored somewhere.

LG_Fox_Brazil176d ago

I really enjoyed my X360, some great exclusives on it. Used to play the shit out ot Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, two masterpieces
