Finding Ditman: The Glitch That Changed Resident Evil 4 Forever

From IGN: "15 years ago a mysterious GameFAQs user called Ditman333 casually posted about a discovery he’d made in Resident Evil 4. He had stumbled upon a glitch that allowed the player to move 50% faster. All of a sudden, the emerging Resident Evil 4 speedrunning community took notice and the glitch became a revelation.

But speeding up the player wasn’t the glitch's only use. Ditman had opened up a Pandora’s box of glitches that allowed speedrunners all over the world to expose new exploits and even bypass entire sections of the game altogether. Resident Evil 4 speedrunning exploded in popularity, with new finds and records still being set to this day, all thanks to Ditman’s simple discovery.

But in 2007 the original post has been purged from the forum. Today, there’s no evidence of its existence. Ditman333, apparently no longer an active presence on the internet, has since faded into rumour, myth, and eventually legend."

Simon's Quest is better than Symphony.

If you're gonna troll, at least make a legitimate attempt.

Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.

Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.

That's a pretty fucking great list

The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.

Resident Evil 4 GameCube is 20 Years Old

The classic Resident Evil 4 GameCube release, the title that redfined the hugely popular series, debuted 20 years ago today.

Zeldafan64119d ago (Edited 119d ago )

Bought it the day it came out. Probably the most graphically impressive GameCube game.

Resident evil 1 remake looks better.

Zeldafan64119d ago (Edited 119d ago )

It looks great but it's also pre-rendered backgrounds in tight, enclosed spaces. From a technical perspective RE4 is more impressive.

Agent75119d ago

I'd say Resident Evil Zero which was canned on the Nintendo 64 and ported to the GameCube.

Neonridr119d ago

I still give it up to Factor 5 with Rogue Squadron 2 and 3. Those games look amazing still today. They squeezed a lot out of that box.

RE4 was no slouch either though.

Tacoboto119d ago

I think I'd give it to Metroid Prime and Echoes. 60fps with all those particle effects, and Samus' reflections.

The Remaster on Switch and Trilogy version on Wii are actually missing certain graphical effects.

The most influential game of all time. Along with the movie Aliens, it has shaped the industry.

Bought a GameCube for Resident Evil. Everything else was just extra.
