AMD launches "new" Phenom-based dual cores at sub-$100 price
Blink and you might miss the announcement, but AMD is finally refreshing the aged K8 family that has anchored the company’s product line for the past several years. The company announced two new parts today: the Athlon X2 7750 Black Edition and the Athlon X2 7550. These new CPUs run at 2.7GHz and 2.5GHz respectively, carry a 2MB L3, and are based on K10 (Barcelona/Phenom) rather than K8. Launch price on the higher-end 7750 is just $79; AMD has pared its pricing to the bone.
