Gran Turismo 7: PS5 vs PS4 Performance Review

IGN: "Gran Turismo 7 is here and we put it through its paces on the PS5, PS4 Pro, and base PS4. It's the Gran Turismo 25th Anniversary this year so to celebrate we wanted to see what ray tracing does for the franchise on PS5 and how it fares on the previous generation consoles."

This will pinch some nerves. But i still think Driveclub still have the best rain/water effect on a racing game.

Overall, great analysis. Im still waiting for mine to be delivered.

DC is amazing, still holds up well. I was hoping Sony would have released a performance patch for the PS5 to allow for it to run at 60fps. It would be outstanding if they did.

TiredGamer1149d ago

Really wish that it was 60 fps. No matter what others argue, the temporal resolution of higher frame rates (above 30) is incredibly impactful. Your eye is literally receiving twice the effective detail and resolution per second in motion.

porkChop1149d ago

You're not wrong. DriveClub had really impressive rain effects.

Dee_911149d ago

gt5 did as well it was just really low res

LordStig1149d ago

Don't kid yourselves, Driveclub was pretty and that was it. Everytime i see DC brought up the rain is the only thing that it gets praise for. The AI doesn't react to you it follows the racing line and if you're in the way they will hit you and it plays like shit on a steering wheel,

Knushwood Butt1148d ago

DC was a blast. Played it for regularly over a long period of time and don't normally touch 'arcade' racers.

Knushwood Butt1148d ago

I do agree that it played crap on a wheel though. I have a wheel but played DC with a pad.

Mr Logic1149d ago

Agree, but with a caveat. If GT aimed for 30fps, then I would not be surprised if it looked better than DC.

alb18991148d ago

I want games made just for next gen. SONY and MS should stop this crap. I hope that Forza Motorsport is only for the series console.

kayoss1148d ago

I agree But i know why they did it.
1. Remember that PS5 and Xbox series X just came out and there are not a lot consoles out in the wild. Plus, both consoles are experiencing shortages. Sony and Microsoft dont want their flagship games to perform poorly in retails due to that factor. In order to maximize sales, they had to release it on their previous consoles or else they will take a big lost.
2. There are still money to be made on previous console. Sony sold 100+ million ps4 consoles and Xbone has about 60 million. Thats a lot of potential sales.

I got the anniversary edition which means I can give my son the code for the 4 version while i play the 5. amazon just shipped it with an estimated delivery of the 7th.

Iceball20001149d ago

Don’t think it works like that.

darthv721149d ago

The 25th anniversary edition comes in a steelbook case with a ps5 disc and a voucher for a digital ps4 copy. What makes you think otherwise?

Iceball20001148d ago (Edited 1148d ago )

The DLC/Preorder bonus is linked to the PS4 code. It’s all on one code. So I guess you could share the code but you wouldn’t have any of the bonuses.

Knushwood Butt1148d ago

Just picked mine up.

The steelbook is nice.

Waiting for the full download to finish before I start it up.

Sunny_D1148d ago

@darth

I got the same thing and you’re right. You can play the PS5 and PS4 version separately

purple1011148d ago

Another option is both will play. But it might not let you play both versions at once.

Bit like when you have more than 4 users on a Netflix account it snows which account is being used and you hit your limit of users?

babadivad1148d ago

Not impressed with what I've seen so far.

Iceball20001148d ago

What don’t you like about it?

strifeblade1148d ago

The micro transactions are pretty bad and price gauging.

racer221148d ago

Wonder how it would have looked if it only had been made for ps5. Ps4 Version holdes the real Power of ps5 back. Wont be buying it.

The Aston Martin Vintage?

Does the senior product manager not proofread?

andy8530d ago

Wish they'd put a couple of endurance races in. Every time there's an update I have the cars and the events finished in 30 mins

Babadook730d ago

"The next-generation racing AI agent, Gran Turismo Sophy has evolved into “GT Sophy 2.1” and is now available in ‘Custom Race’ (PS5 version only)

‘GT Sophy’ can now be selected as the rival AI in Custom Race on all GT Sophy supported tracks and layouts in World Circuits."

This should be fun to play with.
