I wish this included not potentially banning me for using FlawlessWidescreen so displays properly. In fact, it would be nice if this was just in the options.

In Soviet Russia, screen widens you!

I'm disappointed in the subpar haptic feedback on Elden Ring compared to Demon Souls remake. I hope a future patch improves this. At first I thought there was something wrong with my controller. Then I read a reddit post where people had the same experience. The haptic effects in DS was amazing. The clanking of sword against the wall or shield felt like actual metal hitting a hard object. I miss that effect.... feels hollow. Haptic feedback is still there, but it's very limited

Smellsforfree1165d ago

Yup. That was the deciding factor for me to get it on PS5 over PC or Series X was I was confident they would have a similar "HD" rumble and trigger experience as Demon's Souls. I hope it is something that they still implement but I'm not holding my breath.

Hopefully they improve the haptic effects. Playing Horizon as well, and the haptic and controller sound effects are very nice.

Bluepoint was tasked with making a next gen remake. From Soft made a game for last gen and had to up port to next gen. Not the strongest excuse, but that's the situation. Next gen feedback wasn't a focus for Elden Ring.

It's more of them just not caring. The feel of backstabbing in the game is great but lacks on everything else. Which is honestly fine honestly because not every dev will take advantage but it is a shame for sure

Modern Gaming 101 - Release a game as is and fix it all later. Why do these companies even hire testers? Yet, complain with the whole "video games are expensive " spiel.

jznrpg1165d ago (Edited 1165d ago )

The game runs pretty good imo on PS5 . Games are more complicated than ever and when millions of people are playing problems arise that however many testers you have that they don’t run into . There is no perfect game and small bugs like this are going to occur no matter how much testing they do .

ChubbyBlade1165d ago

There’s no reason for it to be dropping into the 40s in performance mode. It’s a great looking game but it’s nothing the ps5/xsx can’t handle.

AKS1165d ago (Edited 1165d ago )

"There is no perfect game and small bugs..."

I take it you're not familiar with the PC version. Gsync isn't working, tearing is atrocious, frame rate is lousy, stuttering is constant, and zero widescreen support (and I can be BANNED for using the fix with Flawless Widescreen). Also, if I try to use another setting than Full Screen, either HDR gets disabled entirely or I get an incredibly distorted image with Full Screen unless it's at 5120*1440. It also frequently white screens many people to the point they can't play the game at all, one of the few problems I have been lucky enough to only happen a couple of times. I don't think you'd frame these major issues as "small bugs" had you gone through what I have already. I've probably spent more time trying to get this game to run and display properly than some have actually playing the game.
This is what Horizon looks like on the same PC at +60 fps:

Aks
Is it really that bad!? That sounds almost as bad as Niers PC port was. If it wasn't for the mod for it that game would be the worse experience ever.

AKS1164d ago

@Teflon02 Forcing vsync off in the Nvidia control panel helped a lot, but it could definitely use some work and a lot more options. You can watch Digital Foundry's recent video covering it titled "Elden Ring PC Performance Simply Isn't Good Enough."

No software is released bug free.

il-JumperMT1165d ago

EAC? why people still use it in 2022 its useless

darksky1165d ago

still no fix for the stutter on pc. I doubt if they even aknowledged it as a problem.

Si-Fly1165d ago

Or maybe it’s a fix that’s gonna take longer than a couple of days?

Plagasx1165d ago

It should be a top priority. People paid hard earned money for this hoping for a playable experience.

FPS_D3TH1165d ago

Then acknowledge and address that?

ScootaKuH1164d ago

They must have known about the stutter in the PC version before release though, how could they not? Unless, of course it went through zero QA playtesting.

Watch the DF video on PC performance and Alex basically says it doesn't matter what PC you're running it on, there's no way you can avoid the stutter. You can't tell me that FromSoft didn't already know this was an issue until it got in people's hands. It's unacceptable that it was released in this state tbh.

Using Elena to play Crash on Uncharted 4 was pretty great.

Saving some trapped aliens in Super Metroid and seeing them escape. Daisy's third eye in Melee. Seeing Mario characters portraits in a window at Hyrule castle. Megaman X using Ryu/Ken's movesets in mutiple entries. Bayonetta cosplaying as Fox McCloud while using an Arwing to kill angels and demons. So many good ones throughout the years.
