Media Molecule working hard getting a secret project ready

The LittleBigPlanet developers are taking no time off to celebrate their big win at the Video Game Awards. They've let fans in on a little secret: "we've been working hard recently getting the secret project ready…"

When asked for some clarification, Jim from Media Molecule responded, "the people in charge would have my thumbs if I was to say anything more."

Is it a game space for LittleBigPlanet in Home? Release date for online CREATE mode? Re-instatement announcement of the Play/Create/Share points? North American announcement of the Christmas-themed "Festive Goodies Pack" that includes not only new costumes but also new stickers, decorations, and objects?

Article updated with more info on LittleBigPlanet (PSP), more info from Alex Evans of Media Molecule, and other sources to backup the rumors.

Awesome find SS...

No matter what it is, DLC, or something totally new, color me excited.

Well if sales of lbp do not pick up buy the time the game is finished u can expect it to be a multi plat game...

*Goes back to playing resistace2*... :D

Sev4563d ago

Sales aren't everything.

Instant profit may not be as big of a deal to MM, as it is to secure a good business relationship with a company like SCEA.
They are a new developer after all.

1st of all Sony owns LBP IP so the game will never be multiplat. [email protected]

I updated the article with this link to an OLD article -

Quote from Alex Evans:
"It's still LittleBigPlanet, but people will be saying, 'I thought it was this - now you're telling me it's this as well?!' That excites me hugely."

Though it's old, it seems we're on the verge of more than just a big patch release or DLC.

Beast_Master4563d ago

I am happy for MM and know they are still adding content to LBP but I hope they have another new IP up their sleaves they are working on as well. Don't get me wrong LBP is great but I would like them to do another game and then come back to LBP.

WannaGetHIGH your a TOWEL!!!

Media Molocule has an exclusive contract with Sony, Like Sucker Punch and Insomniac. I think MM might even be owned by Sony? I know they work very extensively with London Studios. Insomniac works alot with Naughty Dog though too.

heyheyhey4563d ago

the thing is:

LBP was very cheap to develop because the team was small.. only a couple million according the Alex Evans

which means even selling 1 million copies of the game would generate a substantial profit for MM and Sony

2 million copies (a figure which the game will undoubtedly hit eventually) makes a VERY tidy profit... throw in DLC sales and such... and LBP is a huge success contrary to what the haters say

StalkingSilence4563d ago

Wait, LBP didn't cost as much to make as GTAIV?
haha you actually make a very good point that many (including myself) overlook. With more hyped content on the way, I bet Alex Evans and crew are doing PRETTY well for themselves right about now.

Another FLOP no thanks keep your secret project ASS H*LE.

StalkingSilence4563d ago

I'm sure they would probably tell you that the FLOP you are referring to just won best PS3 game and Media Molecule won best studio at Spike's VGAs.

LarVanian4563d ago

Is it Little Big Planet 2
Or Little Big PSP?

StalkingSilence4563d ago

I feel like that might be jumping the gun a little bit. I'm pretty certain they've been rolling up a lot of minor fixes into one HUGE patch to put it through Sony's QA and have it hit worldwide simultaneously. It'd be ballsy to release info of a sequel before the initial game is fixed and operational. But you never know...

StalkingSilence4563d ago

Updated the article to give a link to the Folks at LittleBigPlanetoid who have a story on the PSP version, supposedly confirmed interally to Sony employees.

StalkingSilence4563d ago

Price of what? We don't know what the content is yet.

The price of the game is $59.99 MSRP. The secret project doesn't have a price, because we don't know if it's DLC, a new game, or a sweater made of bologna.

Panthers4563d ago

I still need to get LBP :(

I know Im slack.

Surfman4563d ago

you wont regret, trust me. Its the game to have this year.

StalkingSilence4563d ago

and buy it new - show em you support creativity and innovation. Plus, I hate tossing my coin to gamestop. I just went to GameCrazy for the first time last week - I might go there every now and then.

Panthers4563d ago

I dont support Gamestop anymore. If I sell a game, it is on eBay. I make more and the other guy gets it for less.

I dont buy used... ever. Just not my thing.
