We spoke to Sony Santa Monica’s creative director Cory Barlog and senior manager of technical production Matt DeWald about bringing the highly-praised PS4 release to PC.
A handful of small redesigns and a pair of back buttons make Nintendo’s Pro Controller for Switch 2 a worthy upgrade.
I love this controller. Feels so nice in the hand. Plus the battery lasts for days, it's crazy.
$100 ?????????????????????????????? ??????????????????????????????? ???????????????
The thing is, over the past decade, third-party controllers have really stepped up. You can often get better quality, more durability, and stronger performance for half the price of first-party options. Meanwhile, controllers from Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft have become increasingly mediocre, expensive, fragile, and not particularly impressive across the board. What makes this especially noticeable with Nintendo is that they’re surprisingly open to third-party hardware. That openness ends up highlighting just how much better the alternatives are.
Techland wants to switch to a shorter development cycle of three to four year at the most for its games, starting with Dying Light: The Beast.
Very good dev length for a AAA/AA game I'd say. Companies need to set an aim for this range. 1-2 is too little, I believe 3-4 is perfect. Any more is too much. Games don't need to be these gigantic games full of a crazy amount of content. Just make a good game.
The alleged God of War game that is said to be set in the Greek mythology is rumored to have had its release postponed to the year 2026.
no surprise... this gen has been 'almost' a total wash for Sony. They has been shifting games to 26. Probably to pad out the eventual release of the PS6, which is also rumored for 26/27.
Man, I wish we could go back to the hood ol’ days of God of War. I totally understand the craft and talent that went into the modern version, but I found them incredibly boring. I love the spectacle and unapologetic visceral and energy of the originals. They were shocking, brutal, and completely bad-ass. Wish we could get back to those days.
Hate to break it to you, but we've already had, like, seven GoW games set in Greek mythology. Did you mean Egyptian mythology...in your headline?
wait wait wait wait. Greek Mythology? wtf? Why are why are we going back?
edit: Supposedly it's a spinoff and its metriodvania style????? SIGN ME UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of Sony's top studios even wants their games on PC. They want more money for the work.
Wish the devs would talk about taking some of those PC enhancements and porting them into GoW on PS5. Seems crazy they wouldn't go back to add some of the PC improvements like enhanced shadows or increasing anisotropic filtering to 16x. DF showed a lot of the settings getting one bump over "original" had pretty minor performance impact for some nice visual improvement. PS5 has the headroom for it.
I'm enjoying the 60fps patch on my PS5, but it feels crazy Sony is OK with letting their premier hardware become not only not the best place to play their own games, but lagging quite a bit further behind unnecessarily; most of the work is done, just port some of it over! Show your own platform some love, guys. I'll probably re-buy it on PC at some point down the line when it is super cheap, but the point stands. Thier games that get PC releases should have some of their visual improvements ported over to the PS5 (PS4 back-compat-plus, whatever) versions.
