"ANVIL: Vault Breaker is a Roguelike twin-stick shooter from Korean developer Action Square. The game is currently in Xbox Game Preview and Steam Early Access, so naturally, it has some rough edges that will be smoothed out over time. One of those rough edges is that starting an online co-op game is clunky and confusing. Don't worry; we're here to help!" says Co-Optimus.
"Korean developer Action Square's ANVIL: Vault Breaker launched as an Xbox Game Preview and Steam Early Access title at the beginning of December. The twin-stick Roguelike shooter is scheduled to receive continuous updates as it progresses towards its full release. The first of these updates arrived this week, adding numerous enhancements and fixes," says Co-Optimus.
How does a game technically not released, still in development, get an "update"?
Paul writes: "There is a new entry in the cooperative shooting genre, with this one coming in the shape of ANVIL, a twin stick shooter from Action Square."
Hmmmm.
"The only thing that the description doesn’t mention is the fact that ANVIL is a twin-stick shooter, and that things are randomly generated each time you play."
They mention in the description for the game that it is a "roguelike", procedural generation is pretty much what that word means these days lol.
But good catch, noticing this is effectively a retooled mobile game by the same devs. Curious choice.
Neil writes: "Call it Early Access, call it Game Preview, call it what you want in fact, but the truth of the matter is that any game going into the numerous early access schemes that are available in the gaming world should be seen as a wonderful chance for gamers; one that can help shape a game's future, giving feedback and constructive criticism to the dev teams that are looking for it. The latest, Anvil, is a top-down, sci-fi action shooter, and it's blasting its way into Xbox Game Preview, Steam Early Access and good old Xbox Game Pass."
