Ubisoft’s “Great Exodus” – Why Staff are Resigning from the Publisher
Faceless Gaming's Alex writes: Ubisoft are losing employees in large numbers with waves of employees resigning over the last eighteen months. With employees citing low pay, competitive opportunities elsewhere, frustration at the company’s creative direction, and unease at its handling of workplace misconduct as reasons for leaving. The latest of those issues seems to be something that has been plaguing the gaming industry of late. Back in July, the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing brought a lawsuit against Activision Blizzard, after investigating years of sexual misconduct, harassment and a frat boy environment. Bungie’s head of HR also stepped down last week after a similar investigation revealed that the Halo and Destiny developer encouraged a similar culture of misconduct and abuse. While Activision Blizzard has taken up the majority of the news surrounding the fight against misconduct within gaming, Ubisoft employees are kindly reminding people that the environment at the Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry publisher is anything but peachy.
