Battlefield 2042 Season 1 Scheduled for March 2022, 12 Pre-Season Weekly Missions Planned

The latest datamine suggests that Battlefield 2042 Season 1 is scheduled to start in March 2022! 12 pre-reason weeks for weekly missions planned.

JohnJ1254d ago

Loving the weekly missions - hopefully they add a scoreboard and stat-tracking in March. I want to be able to buy cosmetics in the store.

Think Sea of Thieves has a really good cosmetic system, with some rare sets available through partnerships / by watching certain streams and by logging on at certain times etc. like the exclusivity rewarded for effort and supporting the game.

Game gets a lot of hate as do EA but I love it and think EA make some great games.

Welshy1254d ago (Edited 1254d ago )

Wow. I don't think I've ever read a comment where I've so completely disagreed with every single detail.

The fact that you would ask them to allow you to buy cosmetics when it's still missing basic functionality of previous titles boggles my mind. I despair the future of gaming if this sentiment is held by the silent masses who don't spend time of news/forum sites.

1nsomniac1254d ago

^EA/DICE PR Socials agent.

Like you say, all you have to do is look for the clues. If he's asking how to continue to pay for a game that has been sold incomplete at an increase RRP in the first place, you know he plays for the other team. Most people aren't that stupid to make it so obvious though.

annoyedgamer1254d ago

So this is what an EA shill post looks like.

SurgicalMenace1253d ago (Edited 1253d ago )

I mean, you can't find any better examples of toxicity than you can in the individuals responding to his comment.

I guess everyone has to agree with your opinions or are you all just so weak that being a bully is needed to feel strong? Whatever the case, someone else is liking EA games too given that their brand is recognized internationally.

Do any of you have brands or just empty opinions no one is asking you for? Let them enjoy what they will since you're not saying anything about League or anyone else selling cosmetics.

I don't care for EA games as much as I once did either but I'm mature enough to not attack anyone for a different preference.

GhostTurtle1253d ago (Edited 1253d ago )

Your post is the prime example of what toxicity looks like.

staticall1253d ago

Come on, calling people toxic right away is just bad. Don't manipulate others by painting people you disagree with as bad and/or evil. Not to mention, @Welshy has nothing toxic in his comment, at all.

Popularity doesn't equals quality. Look at Epic Game store. It's popular, yes, but doesn't have quality like Steam or GOG (EGS just recently added a cart. Cart in a virtual store was added years after launch). Stuff like TikTok, Facebook, Twitter and other. Same rule also applies to EA, Ubisoft, TakeTwo, you name it. IMO, you should support quality, not use something just because it's popular and that's it.

Next. This game is objectively worse than its predecessors. Not only it's missing basic features, full of bugs, unbalanced, it also removed the staple of Battlefield - classes and replaced it with CoD/Overwatch/Apex-like specialists. Asking to buy skins in a paid game is just wrong and shouldn't be supported by anyone. This needs to stop. Because the more you defend those big publishers, the more impudent they become. Remember DLC, then season passes, then microtransactions, then lootboxes? People didn't push back and now it's the norm, every big "AAA" game has in-game store, with "time-savers", skins, emotes, you name it.

P. S.: League (you mean League of Legends, right?) is a bad example. That game is free-to-play. This one costs up to $109.99. And it has premium battle pass on top of that.

Omegasyde1253d ago

Um no. And guy/gal isn’t getting attacked, guy/gal is being called out.

Guy/gal is promoting micro transactions in a multiplayer only game (full price) where past games had more content.

+ game is missing vital day 1 features.

+EA statement is very forced.

SurgicalMenace1253d ago

Who are any of you to "call them out" if it is what they enjoy. Just because you don't like it or wouldn't do it doesn't mean that you all get to set the narrative. There are many examples of games not being what the INDIVIDUAL wants but the game still performs well. It's not about popularity, it's about volume. If fewer people are unhappy with the results while a larger volume of others are content, who does a company place their focus on?

As far as my comment being toxic, please point out anything that didn't pose a question to provoke a response? There were options opposed to statements of absolution or ridicule. Perhaps, exploring the definition would help in properly identifying its presence.

Toxic: very harmful or unpleasant in a pervasive or insidious way.

Welshy1253d ago

@surgical if you truly believe my comment in any way is "bullying", please turn your router off and never go outside, you are not built for social interaction of any kind.

I was in no way derogatory about the person posting, I was purely expressing my opinion on the content of their comment. You need to grow up.

staticall1253d ago

@SurgicalMenace
«Who are any of you to "call them out" if it is what they enjoy»

First of all, we are people, just like you or @JohnJ. Why you and @JohnJ can express your opinion and "call us out" and we can't, i don't get it. Don't you see how absurd this is?
Second, no one is saying he can't enjoy the game. Not a single person said that. Please, read carefully and you'll see. People are saying stuff against in-game store in full price game and calling the game broken (which it is).

«Toxic: very harmful or unpleasant in a pervasive or insidious way.»

You see, there's a problem. «Toxic» is such a vague term, that almost anyone you don't like can be called that word. For instance, i found this definition: «A toxic person is anyone whose behavior adds negativity and upset to your life» (c) webmd. And, according to it, both you and i are toxic.

About company focus, it depends. Ideally, they should focus on fixing the issues and making the game better for long time fans. Long time fans not only supported the game/franchise for years, they don't want the game to fail, they want to the game to succeed and to play it for as long as possible.

SurgicalMenace1253d ago

Listen, John expressed what he liked and you guys told him his view was wrong because it contended with your own.

I mean, it's awesome that you all disagree but what did you aim to add to John's experience? Now that you disagree, are you so arrogant to believe that your viewpoint has somehow altered what John prefers? Perhaps, he's not in the majority in his viewpoint but in my experience the most interesting people often aren't.

As far as companies focusing on the minority, sorry, but that's NOT been the reality when you're one of the largest developers in the world. They're going to focus on efficiency because they've got other projects to manage. They'll get to you when they do. Is that what you accept? Most likely not, but it's their choice on how they're going to manage their projects.

Welshy

"I despair the future of gaming if this sentiment is held by the silent masses who don't spend time of news/forum sites."

Who cares if you despair? Who are you? Why would any of that matter to John? Did John say, "Hey Welshy, what do you think of what I like?" Nope....maturity is shown when an individual realizes that they can't choose how important their input is to another person. Last, derogatory wasn't the option, unpleasant was. There was an either/or there, don't know if you missed it.

EA can ask for whatever they like, same as Apple, Sony, etc but that doesn't mean we have to support it. Some do, some don't but the option is there.

#eaemployee

The game is trash. We're not falling for the stealth appraisal

JohnJ1252d ago

Not an EA employee, just a fan - I like Fifa too 😅 sorry!

Seriously though, I come on N4g most days and it’s one of my favourite sites for gaming news, was just sharing my honest opinion. I’m enjoying the game. And I do like micro-transactions when they’re not pay to win, just for the variety of content and option to spend money on games I like.

Wishing you well - appreciate everyone’s input ♥️👍🏻

Omegasyde1253d ago

😂 da fuq. Total shilling

JohnJ1252d ago

Woaa just checked back and seen the replies - it’s all good people, it’s all love. I’m a real person, enjoying the game - fully appreciate not everyone is and that’s ok. I like battlefield games and I like micro transactions because I like the opportunity to spend money on games I like and get extra content. Totally understand some people aren’t happy with the state of the game! Nobody’s paying me to comment, I’m just sharing my view ♥️👍🏻 Good vibes all

Ninver1252d ago

Alright respect for being honest but the game is still trash to some of us

FPS_D3TH1254d ago

Roughly when the probably should’ve launched in the first place. It can stay uninstalled

MIDGETonSTILTS171254d ago

When do they plan to launch a patch that stops guns from not shooting, ads not working, or make it so I can’t get back into the vehicle after activating a redeploy.

DICE is lucky I love HZ, but nobody is playing anyways, so that won’t count for anything soon.

This is a great unfinished game. Please finish it already, before the community dies.

Teflon021254d ago

Seeing they've been fixing this much faster than BF4 I wouldn't be too worried

MIDGETonSTILTS171253d ago

BF4 didn’t have a bug that stopped the guns from working

anast1254d ago

People are probably playing something else by now.

FPS_D3TH1253d ago

Went right back to tarkov myself. Feel sorry for console gamers who really don’t have many fps options atm though.

Just redownloaded the game. I wonder if it is still active

Steve_Gamer233d ago

Yeah it will be, the game just recently got a Update 1.59 Patch in September.

Vince Zampella: Battlefield "Absolutely Can" Outsell Call of Duty; BF2042 Was Not a "Failure"

Battlefield franchise boss thinks Battlefield "absolutely can" outsell Call of Duty, but says they're not targeting that with the next entry.

TheNamelessOne252d ago

Feel like if that were true, we would have seen it during the BF3/4 era. Just focus first on releasing a Battlefield that's actually feature complete, well put together, that people actually want to play right out of the gate. Hoping Zampella can make this happen.

JEECE252d ago

The best opportunity was BF1 vs. Infinite Warfare. I've never actually seen a worldwide sales comparison so I'm not convinced BF1 didn't eventually win, but I do know COD sold better in the US at launch, because it was the NPD #1 that year, while BF was #2.

SonyStyled252d ago

The best opportunity was with BC2 and BF3. BF4 dropped the ball with a short campaign and bugged multiplayer at launch

Cacabunga251d ago

Release a decent game and let the mouth to eat do the rest.. you choose to release another BF4 then blame yourselves for it

JEECE251d ago

@SonyStyled

Definitely not BC2. I love the Bad Company games (even though everyone always pretends the first one didn't exist), but even though BC2 has achieved great respect in hindsight, at the time it came out a lot of casuals who bought COD every year either didn't know of Battlefield's existence or saw it as a knockoff of COD. Plus coming out in spring 2010 it was competing against MW2 (the original one) which came out the prior fall.

ChronoJoe251d ago

I mean, the title of the game doesn't have a lot to do with how it sells. The next game is not going to change things but Zampella course change the course of the series towards something that's more on track with that those big player numbers.

With that said, battlefield fans might not want that. To acquire the wider audience they would probably need to betray a lot of the series design principles. Call of Duty is as popular as it is because it is as simple as it is.

"BF2042 Was Not a "Failure"

Suuuuuuure thing little buddy...

excaliburps252d ago

In his defense, BF2042 did turn things around eventually though still falls short of franchise expectations if you based it on BF4, BF3, BF1.

trez1082251d ago

Hated it at lunch, came back a two years after and it was an absolute blast. Not sure how it did sales wise to be called failure or success but BF2042 is a pretty good game .

ElaBosak251d ago

In what way was it a failure exactly?

Outside_ofthe_Box252d ago

Microsoft would just buy EA if that happens.

8bitAssassin251d ago (Edited 251d ago )

We don't need more games ruined. It's like that company puts water on their bread before they eat it.

Inverno252d ago

Here we go again with rubbing mouths. BF has been a flop consistently since BF4, and I mean flop as in disappointing to the fan base due to the technical issues each has had and the gameplay changes needlessly made. Shut up and make a good BF before hyping up another potential disappointment.

Fishy Fingers252d ago (Edited 252d ago )

Bro gave one pretty decent interview and answered the questions he was asked. Not really his fault if people want to cherry pick quotes for "content".

Stick to reading source https://www.ign.com/article...

X-23252d ago

I don't mind them claiming BF2042 wasn't a failure so long as they learned from it and use that experience moving forward into the new game, it was terrible at launch but towards the end it got a bit better. I don't want to see the same thing play out with the new BF though because the ones who are still interested in the franchise have been pretty vocal with what they want and don't want from Battlefield.

ElaBosak251d ago

Learn what exactly? The game was great.
