Too easy for someone to cheat on it is my guess

Bladesfist1255d ago

Most esports tournaments and the biggest esport tournaments (by prize pool) are played on PC.

DJStotty1255d ago

@pheonix

Nah, you can't cheat in official tournaments, they are ran on LAN's, not over the public network.

If you're a pro player that starts an event weekend from pool play where you compete on mainstage and featured stations, you'll be playing on PC. If you're a player competing in the open bracket, you'll be playing on the Xbox Series X. (or in this case the Dev kits)

Here is a link as to why they chose the system format as they do now: https://www.halowaypoint.co...

Also, interesting point from some that played on the PC LAN setup: https://twitter.com/Snip3do...
They simply wished they were playing on console with less issues.

In one CTF match, it lost connection 2-3 times requiring a full restart each disconnect. It was annoying to watch...

But such obvious public errors will definitely prioritize a bug fix at least.

Edit: That being said the HCS itself was pretty well ran. The announcers were good and energetic, just these technical issues sometimes got in the way.

Just use the series S, it runs at 900p/120fps buttery smooth in multiplayer.

Snookies121255d ago

Yeah, using the Series S here and it runs perfectly. Aside from split-screen multi-player with the dip in frames. Though, of course that's not going to be used in any sort of tournament, lol.

FPS_D3TH1255d ago

Lol 900p… visual clarity goes a long way and would likely be why they don’t

wiegraf1255d ago

Same thing, can't even tell the difference.

DJStotty1255d ago (Edited 1255d ago )

Aren't most tournaments not played on consoles anyway? pretty sure they use specific PC builds for these tournaments.

Imagine using consoles and in the middle of the tourney your about to win and the console crashes to dashboard?

MrChow6661255d ago

So PCs never crash? Lol whatever

DJStotty1255d ago (Edited 1255d ago )

Yes, course they do, i never said they didn't, but tournaments are not typically played using consoles, as i alluded to above.

If you are an xbox owner, you will be aware that games sometimes crash to the dashboard, again, as i said above.

The "norm" is to play tournaments using PC's. You believe 343 industries could not get their hands on a few Series X's for an official tournament? But i could? This has nothing to do with supply, but more so they chose to use dev kits, as they are typically higher spec than the retail units.

OH, i almost forgot, that "image" of the dev kits, is literally from 2020

"The story would have been expanded through yearly campaign DLC, so players would not have to wait for another mainline Halo title." ~ this seldom works
But I still think, they should've tried 1 last Halo sequel based on that slipspace engine, that they invested so much on but made for current gen only, before going all in on UE5.

Call me a cynic. But it seems that not even the people working in the studio know what’s the status of Halo.

They were going to add a BR mode, which then got cancelled, but now it’s a sequel to infinite, but may be a reboot of the first game?

It may be normal for development to be like this as super Mario galaxy started as cut content from Mario 128, which then became a tech demo, which became pikmin, which eventually became Mario galaxy.

But 343 or whatever they are called now-certainly don’t have a good track record so it makes me wonder what’s happening.

porkChop191d ago

The Halo: CE remake is a separate project from the Infinite sequel.

Knightofelemia191d ago

Maybe all the staff got laid off.

TheColbertinator190d ago

I'd be much more comfortable with the future of Halo if "343" or whatever they call themselves now were no longer in charge of the series.

WTF!!!? Can we add Tic-Tac-Toe, maybe Connect 4? How bout the card game Go Fish? Microsoft should shelve the Halo Franchise for 10 to 20yrs or sell it clearly they have no new ideas to take Halo forward and putting a "Hey gamer finish the game for us" mode and we can make more money off it and we can fire some more game Developers that we really don't even care about.......Microsoft is done even trying to make Halo a game worthy of even a little bit of our time.
