During the Square Enix TGS2021 Livestream, the company introduced a new trailer for battle royale action mobile game, Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier.

What’s really disgusting about this game is it’s obvious Square is hoping to take a piece of the battle royale pie, I mean Fortnite makes more money than all of Square’s last-gen sales combined, but what makes it truly gross is they slapped the FF7 brand on it. Nothing about it even makes it look like it’s in the same universe. I didn’t watch the trailer and say, “Oh yea this definitely looks like something you’d see in FF7!”

If this were just some new IP I’d just shrug it off, but it feels especially tacky having them brand it from an IP I cherish.
