The core question of whether the new PS5 is better or worse than the launch model can be answered by saying that they're mostly much the same, certainly in terms of the end user experience.
As far as the screw is concerned... the original was made to be tightened with a coin, not so much a screwdriver. They did the same thing with the PS2 hdd adapter and even the stands for the PS4 slim/pro.
It sucks that some people were or still are genuinely worried about getting the new model because of Austin Evan's video. These factual videos are also getting a fraction of the views because they lack clickbait titles, and there's less articles providing the correct information. He really should update the title but given that he admitted he used clickbait for views and he dislikes PS anyway ( https://mobile.twitter.com/... ), I doubt he'll pass on the ad revenue.
I would like to see companies go after people spreading lies personally, it might make these idiots think twice before spreading lies that damage the reputation of companies/individuals.
I’m sure they are very similar . They may have slight advantages over each other but nothing to make a fuss about or enough to get the newer model . The models that make the biggest differences will either be a slim or pro model .
Bro, the differences are too minimal too even matter. I just care about getting my hands on one! 😁
Hope you get one pretty soon so good luck!
Honestly, was hoping this Gen wouldn't need a pro model, but that is looking unlikely. I did get a X1X, but I was coming from the base Xbox One. That was a huge difference. Honestly, I like my base PS4. It was clearly a much more capable machine than the base Xbox One. PS4 games looked so much better, than they did on the OG XBOne. I think in part because PS4 was HDR capable, and the OG One wasn't. This Gen, is still new. When developers stop using resources, on last gen, I am sure they will find ways to push the newer hardware to its maximum potential.
This revision isn’t meant to make a big difference to the consumer but to Sony and the cost of manufacturing consoles. People acting like console revisions are a new thing😔
This is nothing more then the backstage of the console war. It started before the launch of the ps5 and its still going. Fake news after fake news. But lies don't go far. You tubers and social media is being used like a weapon to create lies.
Yes they are more empowered than ever before but unfortunately it’s not just you tubers and Twitter and many lies don’t die.
And guess what nothing happens to them they get away with it just like the former PoA. Hiphopgamer got blacklisted from n4g but of course all these losers with podcast gets away with the bullcrap. Review bombing on metric, you tube clickbait/false news, trolls/hate on Twitter and nothing happens to them. They keep doing it until someone breaks and do something stupid about it.
omfg.... how many articles do we need on revision 99% of owners will never even notice or be aware of...
I somewhat agree but the fact Austin Evans put out a video and admitted he put the video title as he did for clicks. I'm glad the likes of digital foundry is proving him wrong and proving the guy was just in it for clicks to make money.
Obviously they weren't going to release something worse. I just had a PS5 turn up yesterday though and it's dying already... but it is a 1015A not 1100.
It flickers green randomly (every ~1m or so) when playing games. A very bright green, but it doesn't cover the entire screen just part of it. The PS menu also flickers but a lot less than when in-game. Just going to RMA it to Sony (it was bought from PS Direct). I should also add I have another one bought at launch and it is still going strong, zero issues - so likely just a bad unit.
That's a TV problem not a console problem. Try a different HDMI port and make sure you're using the cable it came with. You can also adjust the transfer speed in the PS5 menu if your TV can't handle higher transfer rates.
@Magog Not a TV problem. I’ve tried: - Different HDMI cables - Different HDMI ports - Two different TV’s (Samsung and LG) - Switch and Xbox work fine using the same TV, port and cable Both TV’s support 120hz and 4K and are recent models - they are definitely capable of supporting the latest transfer rates. Also the fact it was a lot worse in game would point towards not being a TV issue. Anyway, contacted PS Direct support and they’ve agreed to replace it. Good customer service - they’re even sending FedEx out to collect it and are shipping a replacement before even receiving the old one.
My series x also started to make strange noises. Only with a week. Very weird.
Yeah... for every X consoles sold there will be Y unlucky people who get defective units :( At least we have warranties... worse if it happens after a year.
Not worriedin the least. Sony makes very reliable consoles. With the exception of the widespread PS2 disc scratch issue, all other console issues have been within the norms of MTBF.
I thought it was just a issue with the optical laser not working. Isn't the disk scratching issue a 360/XBO issue?
I think you're correct. I recall PS1 and PS2 having bad lasers, heck you had to basically sit your PS1 upside down to get it to work after a while. 360 had the disk scratching issue when you moved it with the disk in.
Correct. I meant tp say that. It had both...the disc laser issue was the widespread issue and some suffered from the scratched disk. The 360 had a much bigger issue along with scratched disks...lol. My point still remains the same. That Sony has mainly release very solid and reliable consoles.
@Orchard I must be the only lucky one, because I still have a working PS1 and I don't need to sit it upside down. The latch need to be fixed (you know it is ancient), but I don't need to flip it to play it.
@anast Then you got lucky or got a later model (they fixed it in a HW revision). The laser issues were very well known and well spread.
Anast, I got lucky tlas well. I kept my launch 360. My kids went through 4.
I remember having to flip over my original launch PS1 to play discs. Never had the disc scratching on PS2 but I did have the DVD laser burn out so it could only read PS1 and other CD media discs. It was an original launch model and i replaced it with the newer one with the IR built in. As for other PS systems, no problems there.
Really another article about a new board revision being good or bad.
All you have to do it's look at that Austin evans's dumb head and weedy body to know its try hard clickbait trash".
Console warriors enjoy clickbait articles about the "other side". Right
👀 told yas.
