The Ascent Looks Surprisingly Breathtaking In First-Person

There have been some mixed reactions to The Ascent since it hit Xbox Game Pass last month, but everyone seems to agree it's visually stunning. That being said, things can always look better, and this recent mod that changes the game to a first-person perspective really showcases just how beautiful the world actually is.

I'd love low level / normal 3rd person

4Sh0w991d ago

Daayumm that looks good, wish I could play it in 3rd person myself.

JCOLE13195990d ago

I’m actually impressed by the amount of detail in the textures given that the game has a top down view so you never really get to look at them up close. Enjoying this game so far.

phoenixwing990d ago

That's pretty insane the amount of detail when it's just a top down view regularly. Seems like a waste that they don't make a first/third person game using the same world

zarbor990d ago

My thoughts exactly. Why go thru all of that for a top down view? Plus why not just give gamers the option to play it various ways.

Fishy Fingers990d ago

Because it wouldnt work, enemies come from all around you constantly, you need to fire in all different directions, moving the camera 180 degrees back and forth in 3rd person wouldnt be possible from a gameplay point of view, the speed of movement required just wouldnt be manageable or even enjoyable.

Father__Merrin990d ago

It's a great game but damn hard in single player imo

HyperMoused990d ago

Ive found it weird, its like there is supposed to be a path and if you go off that imaginary path you go from level 9 enemies to suddenly level 20 enemies....having said that combat is awesome ive only played SP so far but really enjoy the game.

MassEffectFan990d ago

Is the game as buggy as people are making out? Really wanting to play it but several people on forums and such are saying it will stop you from progressing in various areas of the game?

4Sh0w990d ago

Thats exactly what if feels like to me. It's very annoying but I still enjoy the game for about 1 and half hour increments, after that I usually have to take a break until the next day.

KillBill990d ago

I have not ran into any bugs at all. Only thing I have heard is people having some online co-op issues on PC but they have patched that last I heard.

Father__Merrin990d ago

Masseffect,

No its not as buggy it's just some of the movement mechanics could have been smoother eg rolls etc also fps hitches on certain bits.

The main issue is once you've completed all the beginning levels and reach the city then you start missions you get swarmed by enemies I mean very swarmed and with some grunts having sniper like shots that take massive chuck if hp youl be seeing game over screens. I'm sure this is more for coop but it's still a good game

HyperMoused989d ago

Havnt encountered any bugs yet but im only playing sp at the moment

I thought it was hard at first... but after figuring out how to deal with the enemies it became so much easier.

HyperMoused988d ago

That spider robot..wow...i only beat that as i leveled up in the middle of the fight

Kerppamaister990d ago

The world in this game is simply amazing.

The Ascent: Cyber Heist Review - Total Gaming Addicts

The Ascent’s Cyber Heist DLC doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it provides a satisfying way of extending your enjoyment of one of the best ARPGs of recent memory. The reliance on a non-specific Macguffin means the story doesn’t have the agency it needs, but the excellent core gameplay makes this an enjoyable, if short, way for fans of The Ascent to extend their time in the game.
