In less than two months, you won't be able to purchase a new digital copy of Forza Motorsport 7 on PC or Xbox; Turn 10 Studios has announced that the game is reaching its "End of Life."
Depends on the circuits & the gameplay. I prefer fictional tracks which can be designed specifically to be both gorgeous & fun, Driveclub being a prime example, but of course that game had circuits as well, and those were just as good as the non-circuit tracks.
Real-life circuits can be boring though, especially when we’ve already been on those same circuits in countless other games. But SPA in Belgium for example is a gorgeous circuit. So again, it just depends on the circuit in question, the layout, the surroundings, etc.
"For any Xbox Game Pass players who previously purchased DLC for the game, but not the game itself, we have good news! You will receive a token for the game through the Xbox Message Center so that you can continue playing Forza Motorsport 7. Token distribution will be through August 2."
A digital future should mean games are forever preserved, not removed off of marketplaces four years after release. I get it's probably due to licensing, but it's Microsoft. They can afford to fix that, especially for current/late adopters of last gen systems.
Glad physical games still exist and the used market wasn't terminated by Microsoft in 2013.
What is with the life cycle of these forza games? I remember playing Forza 4 for years… seems stupid to put hundreds upon hundreds of cars to collect when the lifecycle of these games is 2-3 years. We don’t need gran turismo amount of time between sequels, but maybe we don’t need a new Forza every 2 years. Especially since they release Horizon along with Motorsports every other year too
This kinda stuff is lame AF. Its why I will always support Physical media. I love digital too, dont get me wrong, but there should always be the option of physical. At the very least, they allow you to re-download your digital copy. But what happens if the digital store where that copy is kept shuts down? This is why I always keep my digital games that I dont play on my backup HDD rather than banking on that digital storefront. That shit just isnt reliable and is def not exclusive to Xbox. Nintendo and Sony are also known to do this with their older storefronts. I understand why people are hesitant to go all digital, but there are always workarounds. Companies should definitely start putting a little more effort into digital preservation though, cuz this stuff turns a lot of people away from digital.
It is pretty sweet that theyre giving a free copy to anyone who bought DLC on the Gamepass version! I wonder if theyll do the same when they eventually de-commission Forza Horizon 4 or other similar games?
I mean things like this happen with games especially racing games, licenses do expire and sometimes the cost of renewing isn’t worth it if the return income isn’t there. If you haven’t purchased it by now chances are you wouldn’t in the first place.
Licenses for the cars likely ran out, not much they can do unless they feel the need to fork over the money for renewal. Very unlikely with FM8 coming in the next 12 months or so. Took Midnight Club 5+ years to come back on the Xbox Store. Racing games are among the hardest to preserve.
until then will it be sold for dirt cheap like FH3 was?
I've got the disc version but this is rubbish it's a worthy purchase you can grab it cheap
Good riddance, circuit racer sucks
