Fans of Final Fantasy X are in luck, as key members of the Final Fantasy development team confirm that a third Final Fantasy X game is possible.
Please no. FFX- Will did not do a good job setting up a sequel Release a sequel for World of Final Fantasy instead
I'd be down for another WoFF.
I’d only be interested in the graphics.. FFX sucks due to its ridiculous voice acting
What would it be about? FFX to me is the G.O.A.T, but X-2 ruined it already. I mean Tidus comes back? That ruined the whole sad masterpiece that was FFX. So now what? Tidus and Yuna are married and their kid goes missing and they have to go rescue him? I mean seriously... what would it be about?
Also, I wonder why these talks are happening now? FFX and FFX-2 where PS2 era games. Man, I remember those days, I was basically still a kid myself back then, it's been like over 20 years. Most kids today might not even remember FFX. Would they care for FFX-3, they would probably have to go back and play at least the original to even care. But who knows, I think the success of the FF7 Remake is opening new possibilities. That's probably where these ideas are coming from.
Those who are disagreeing with my comment. By all means, please tell me what you think the story would be about then.
Why are you guys replying to me about FFX? I said I want another World of Final Fantasy lol. I thought X-2 sucked, and definitely don't want X-3.
My issue with FF sequels is that they introduce so much new s*** that it barely looks like the world and lore of the original. You end up scratching your head thinking “where the hell was this powerful magic/ability/enemy that can destroy the world and everyone seems to know about during the previous game?”. If they can somehow keep it simple and remember why FFX was so good to a lot of people, this could actually be good. But… I wouldn’t keep my hopes up.
I understand the sentiment but I still believe that final fantasy 13:2 was not only superior to the original but it was one of the greatest final fantasies ever made.
@eonjay - hard disagree. Though I loved x-2 and only played it to revisit spira and for the true ending, the combat for the game was the only thing I thought was amazingly well done. The story was just whatever. Definitely not one of the best in the series.
@Eonjay - Completely agree, I even went out of my way to get the Platinum trophy for XIII-2! Such a great game, that gave me some Chrono Trigger vibes with the time travel and alternate timelines. Such a cool concept, and a really great and engaging game throughout. It made me want to explore every area and find every secret. Fixed so much of what was wrong with the original XIII, and yet people still hate on it.
You're not wrong, but sometimes you get a Crisis Core that works with the original game while fleshing out the setting. There's still some weird stuff that was clearly added later, but I will never not cry over Zack Fair. Dirge of Cerberus has no excuse though.
Yeah pretty much spot on They need to focus on their lore more instead of just shoving brand new shit into the game Like hypothetically, if a game said in the main games lore there was another evil hundreds of years ago but was vanquished, then you would expect any sequel to go off that little lore piece, but they'd rather just introduce something brand new that was happening roughly the same time as the evil you were facing in the last game but you never knew about because they've just forced it in. Worse when they do prequels and force things in, like I wouldn't mind a Jecht, Aaron and Braska prequel showing their entire journey but I would know what happens, there's no real threat to these characters and I know Square would add a lot of things in where you'd be left scratching your head going "we didn't hear about this and it's pretty significant" or "that's a pretty big twist, it kinda retcons what we learnt in FFX"
Do it! I'll buy it
As long as it's not as cringe-worthy as FFX-2 was. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the game itself. And beat it a few times through. But man, what were they thinking having Yuna as a pop star... Such a terrible choice for her character coming from the original.
If they made a good coherent story that coincides with the original .
If it was a prequel with Lord Braska, Auron and Jecht I'd be down for it I love the prequel to FF7 Crisis Core my next favorite entry in the FF series. Either way I would grab the game just because I love FFX and I try and collect anything FFX or related. I have FFX on PS2 and X-2 on PS2, I own the collection on Switch, Vita, PS3, PS4, XB1 and I wish there was a physical port on pc but I own it on Steam as well.
Non sense. FFX-2 ending was real end.
Why not go all out: rewrite X-1 so Yuna isn't kidnapped every other minute and temple puzzles are designed around a summoner, X-2 is less girl trip more fallout of the collapse of a culture based around death, so that an X-3 would be a final resolution.
Final Fantasy X is my favorite game of all time so if they do it right I'm all for it
Can we get an FFVIII remake instead?
That would be excellent. If any Final Fantasy could really use a chance to reimagine its plot, it's FFVIII.
The only thing they really need to change in VIII is add more references and hints that they all knew each other in the Orphanage before the big reveal. Maybe add more references about GFs causing memory problems aswell rather than an one off conversation about it.
And 9! Both are better than 7
Yeah that one too
Omg, I hope this happens so badly. X was amazing, the best game in the series. X-2 wasn't quite as good but still great. If X3 happens I will be so happy.
Better idea: remake / remaster FF10 and make a completely different sequel that ignores the existence of X-2. Maybe revolve it around Tidus protecting Yuna's ancestors and trying to find a way to get back / survive til the day he can see her again. (I'm assuming at the end of 10 they add the ending of him going back to his time instead of dying)
Lmfao excuse me? Square has officially went off the deep end.
I put 368 hours in FF X. Enjoyed X2 despite the girliness. Sign me up for FFX3
I wonder why they keep going back. Create a world with a similar tone, even set something in that universe, just stop messing with the characters. Make sure you have a great soundtrack. They are part of the worlds too. The music has not been as strong since X, there were some okay bits of music in XV but a lot of it felt anonymous too.
I couldn't even get through one hour of FF X-2 so I definitely wouldn't pick up a 3rd entry. Just let Tidus die and move on.
