Achievement Rewards Unveiled

Last week there were rumors that Microsoft was starting an incentive program that would reward gamers with physical merchandise for their Xbox 360 Achievements. Today Microsoft confirmed this program and disclosed the spicy details.

Dubbed the Experience Challenge, players that increase their gamerscore by 1,500 between February 12 and April 12, 2007, will receive a chance to win some Xbox Live bounty. The rewards will be divided into three levels:

Level 1 (Gamers who have an annual gamerscore between 0-4,999 at time of entry): Game Picture, Dashboard theme, Contra for Xbox LIVE Arcade

Level 2 (5,000-9,999 annual gamerscore): Level 1 Package, 100 Microsoft Points and a contest T-shirt

Level 3 (10,000+ annual gamerscore): Level 1 Package, 200 Microsoft Points, contest T-shirt and Fusion Frenzy 2

Those who achieve levels one or two will have their Rewards Level upgraded for 2007.

this is definitely pretty sweet. But im waiting until it the 12th to make my final decision on how cool it is. It says on www.xbox.com that the games that you play to get the points are preselected so it most likely will be really hard to get the 1500 points

they need something big ticket item like a big screen TV for the highest gamer score or a free ticket all expense paid trip to GDC or X07, but yeah its a start :P

Too much rampant cheating and such to whore points. They will keep this to the smaller ticket items...kinda like all the Marlboro crap.

They at least need to make it something enticing. come on, 200 microsoft points. thats really slim. they need to throw in like a free movie rental or tv show download. do a promotion. i agree though, it is a start, and hopefully it will get better.

I think this is going to be great motivation, for me at least, to conintue to play and buy more 360 games... and really go back and revisit old games.

so its giving you between feb 12 and april 12th, but says prizes go ff aditional points.......so for level 3 you wud need 2 get 10,000+ gamescore in 2MONTHS ?????? is this right or am i getting confused, it just reads that the gamescore you ACTUALLY HAVE NOW has nothing 2 do with it. somone explain please

you need the 1500 to get that package. basically you need to get 1500 points in the time period, and where you start points wise determines which prize you get. that's how i read it.

but why are the prizes things that nobody really wants. how about extra controllers, a wi-fi adopter, somthing other then a shirt and fusion frenzy 2.

I honestly see the prizes as a tester, they are just seeing if it is worth doing. They will also be testing how easy it is to get 1500 gamer points.

I think you will only be able to get points of titles released during that period of time. At least most people will get 900 from Crackdown without thinking about it

In order to participate, you'll need to have a valid Windows Live ID linked with your Xbox Live gamercard. What the hell is that by the way? Is that the sign in for Xbox.com or what?

Yeah Sphinx I'm talking bout King Kong and NBA 2K6 hell that's 2000 points in one day. Gotta love the early games for achievments. But anyone with balls would beat COD2 on Veteran for a 1000 that was hard.

Also everyone needs to link their live tag to this site so we can see what everyone is sitting at gamerscore wise

I won't be able to commit the time required to gain the 1,500 points or even come close to the 2nd level, but I'll certainly give kudos to MSFT for implementing this. Taking the incenvtive system in the community one step further will only strengthen XBL.

You have to make 1,500 gamer points within the 2 month limit to qualify, then those points and the points you have made in the past year (they say "annual gamer score") decide what level you earned. The points you have now DO matter, as long as you make the minimum 1,500 gamer points in the 2 months.
For instance, I have almost 6,000 gamer points right now (all of which I've earned in the past year). If I make 1,500 gamer points by the end, I will qualify for level 2 rewards because the total is 7,500.
If you have 5,000 gamer points, but got the 360 at launch, and you have only earned 3,000 of the 5,000 in the past year, then only those 3,000 count.

Except for the fact that I can't see them penalizing the lucky few who actually had one in 2005 like I did. But even if it is only for 2006 I still would qualify for the top tier and will quickly have a copy of Fusion Frenzy 2 and the other prizes, Unless of course I have to sit on hold at 1-800-4MY-XBOX to claim my prize. Cause I have sent back 2 360's and I hate that F'n hold music! Makes me wanna kick my dog or punch my old lady!

How ever little this is...it is MORE than anything else the other consoles are offering. This is a GREAT way to entice gamers to play even more games. Achievements are one of the greatest additions MS has made for Xbox Live.

I got my Xbox 360 in 2006 in Feburay. I got 6086 i think, so i would have to get 1500 points in 2 months which is not that hard.

I thought that you jsut start playing on Feb 12 and then by april 12 you get a call or message or something liek that. I have 12,750 since Dec. 25 2005 and have been playing since then so when I make that 5,000 What happens? I really don't understand how this works and I don't think the full story really Knew to much either can someone explain please?

in the 2 month period i bet its 1500points for set games, i.e maybe crackdown like the fellow at the top of this page said. im currenlt approaching 15000 points so if i can grab that 1500 in that week im sorted, but as said it depends what games classify in that 1500. as at mo im nearly done getting 50points for completing marvel ultimate alliance on hard and nearly another 5o for getting level 5o online on lost planet, and if ANY GMAES COUNT id rather save them 2 for next week
