Battlefield 2042 Cannot Be Played Offline Even With Bots, No Sea Warfare Confirmed

EA has confirmed that Battlefield 2042 offline play is not possible even with AI bots! Sea warfare not happening at least at launch.

Snookies121380d ago (Edited 1380d ago )

Man, the more I'm hearing about this game the less enticing it is. Not one to judge before a game even comes out, but I just feel like I'm seeing more con's than pro's at this point with every bit of news. Then again, haven't bought a Battlefield game since BF3.

-Foxtrot1380d ago

That's how EA and the like usually do it with these types of games.

Make it seem amazing with the first reveal, that the game is going back to basics, will please old school fans, so on and on then they drip feed the "bad news" up until the games release.

Nitrowolf21380d ago

This is just insane lol
Like I get it wasn’t everyone cup, but how cna you say this game commanding of air land and sea and not give sea battles.

Didn’t they do this with Battlefront with no space battles at first? I forgot

Activemessiah1380d ago

HOT mess... They've become incapable of making a Battlefield without it having something wrong with it...

All they literally have to do to have huge sale is make BF bad company 3, offline, multiplayer, no MT... that's it! But no... it's EA.. They'll never learn.

excaliburps1380d ago

Maybe this is something that can be patched post-launch? Or if enough noise is made, maybe they (EA) can make DICE implement an offline mode?

DJStotty1379d ago

Lol, EA listen to fans rather than suits?

More chance of getting the last of us 2 running on Gameboy

JEECE1380d ago

In fairness they'd still have to up the scale of the multiplayer like they are, or at least compared to Bad Company 2. There are a lot of people here who remember that game fondly who would absolutely blast a game that came out today on that scale with only 24 players.

Teflon021380d ago

You couldn't sell a damn game. Stop this. Sure would love a bad company 3. But it ain't happening. They don't even know what made the first 2 great and don't want to take that go unless they can live up to it.
Online isn't needed seriously. Who buys BF and just plays offline... The game already wasn't for you then. So complaining is pointless. No MT? What game doesn't have it and also they're not mandatory so why does it matter? Also every successful MP game in like the last 5 years have MT if anything that's counterproductive not to have by your logic.. this complaint is like crying about it being a live service like adding new stages and guns for free isn't a good thing...

Activemessiah1380d ago

Broken games with MT are being sold to Idiots... yes it is easy to sell it these days.

isarai1380d ago

Like i said before, i fully expect EA to f@#k it up in some baffling way, and i'm sure this is just the start.

moriarty18891380d ago (Edited 1380d ago )

this game sounds worse with every new article. no thanks EA. you can keep your online only obsessed hot garbage.

JEECE1380d ago

Absolute groan. I was willing to give them a pass on the lack of campaign given the ability to play matches with bots (something I'd much rather have in a Battlefield game than a tacked on campaign), but there is no reason I shouldn't be able to play against bots offline. Very stupid.

spss111380d ago

I miss the old Battlefields. I still play Battlefield 2 with the 64 bot mod. Guess it'll have to do.

boing11379d ago (Edited 1379d ago )

Maybe they are using cloud computing for AI? Would make sense to offload it to the server side in a massive multiplayer game. Especially if they are replacing live players with them

JEECE1379d ago

If that's the case they should explain that.

Just redownloaded the game. I wonder if it is still active

Steve_Gamer200d ago

Yeah it will be, the game just recently got a Update 1.59 Patch in September.

Interesting and understandable lol

Vince Zampella: Battlefield "Absolutely Can" Outsell Call of Duty; BF2042 Was Not a "Failure"

Battlefield franchise boss thinks Battlefield "absolutely can" outsell Call of Duty, but says they're not targeting that with the next entry.

TheNamelessOne219d ago

Feel like if that were true, we would have seen it during the BF3/4 era. Just focus first on releasing a Battlefield that's actually feature complete, well put together, that people actually want to play right out of the gate. Hoping Zampella can make this happen.

JEECE219d ago

The best opportunity was BF1 vs. Infinite Warfare. I've never actually seen a worldwide sales comparison so I'm not convinced BF1 didn't eventually win, but I do know COD sold better in the US at launch, because it was the NPD #1 that year, while BF was #2.

SonyStyled219d ago

The best opportunity was with BC2 and BF3. BF4 dropped the ball with a short campaign and bugged multiplayer at launch

Cacabunga219d ago

Release a decent game and let the mouth to eat do the rest.. you choose to release another BF4 then blame yourselves for it

JEECE218d ago

@SonyStyled

Definitely not BC2. I love the Bad Company games (even though everyone always pretends the first one didn't exist), but even though BC2 has achieved great respect in hindsight, at the time it came out a lot of casuals who bought COD every year either didn't know of Battlefield's existence or saw it as a knockoff of COD. Plus coming out in spring 2010 it was competing against MW2 (the original one) which came out the prior fall.

ChronoJoe219d ago

I mean, the title of the game doesn't have a lot to do with how it sells. The next game is not going to change things but Zampella course change the course of the series towards something that's more on track with that those big player numbers.

With that said, battlefield fans might not want that. To acquire the wider audience they would probably need to betray a lot of the series design principles. Call of Duty is as popular as it is because it is as simple as it is.

"BF2042 Was Not a "Failure"

Suuuuuuure thing little buddy...

excaliburps219d ago

In his defense, BF2042 did turn things around eventually though still falls short of franchise expectations if you based it on BF4, BF3, BF1.

trez1082219d ago

Hated it at lunch, came back a two years after and it was an absolute blast. Not sure how it did sales wise to be called failure or success but BF2042 is a pretty good game .

ElaBosak218d ago

In what way was it a failure exactly?

Outside_ofthe_Box219d ago

Microsoft would just buy EA if that happens.

8bitAssassin219d ago (Edited 219d ago )

We don't need more games ruined. It's like that company puts water on their bread before they eat it.

Inverno219d ago

Here we go again with rubbing mouths. BF has been a flop consistently since BF4, and I mean flop as in disappointing to the fan base due to the technical issues each has had and the gameplay changes needlessly made. Shut up and make a good BF before hyping up another potential disappointment.

Fishy Fingers219d ago (Edited 219d ago )

Bro gave one pretty decent interview and answered the questions he was asked. Not really his fault if people want to cherry pick quotes for "content".

Stick to reading source https://www.ign.com/article...

X-23219d ago

I don't mind them claiming BF2042 wasn't a failure so long as they learned from it and use that experience moving forward into the new game, it was terrible at launch but towards the end it got a bit better. I don't want to see the same thing play out with the new BF though because the ones who are still interested in the franchise have been pretty vocal with what they want and don't want from Battlefield.

ElaBosak218d ago

Learn what exactly? The game was great.
