Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut For PS4 and PS5 Gets Leaked by ESRB Listing

It looks like the ESRB has now rated Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut. The interesting part about the listing is that it says the game is for the PS4 and PS5.

It’ll more likely be a free or a $10 upgrade. If $10 is keeping you from buying a AAA game, then I suggest that you try making one of your own.

Its being released on PS4 according to this so what makes this a remake? It's probably DLC for current owners and essentially a GOTY version like basically every publisher does a year later. So I guess you are not buying any third party games because most of them will cost $70 Dollars on all platforms. you act like games on Xbox or other platforms are free while they cost $70 Dollars on PlayStation. I am not sure if your Xbox gamer but 90% of big third party games will never come Day One on game pass. so either you will have to pay full price or wait a year or more for them to end up on gamepass

I have no problem paying $70 dollars for new AAA games. My problem is paying $70 for remakes that's old games. It should be way lesser than that.

I would happily pay $70 if the PS5 version comes with the rumored expansion. So you get a fully optimized game with expansion for one price

I don't think we can call games that are coming from last generation to current with updates and more content remakes. They are more of re-releases. Basically consider them complete edition/GOTY edition. Anytime publishers launched complete or GOTY editions they were mostly MSRP

My point is very simple yes $70 sucks and I rather pay $50 but that's the way market is with inflation. Either we accept it and pay for the games we like or we wait for them to get price drops

I see this sort of comments mostly from Xbox side because they think GP is so amazing that it will have all the games on it day one for one low monthly price. In reality like I said 85-95% of the big 3rd party games will not see release on GP until much later. And guess what publishers make their most money in the initial 3-6 months when the game is selling for mostly MSRP

What do you think happens if two to three years down the road a lot of these publishers see that their games are selling well on PlayStation, switch and on PC but are selling very poorly on XSX? You do know it costs money to port games to other platforms and if after all the work they are barely breaking even why would they waste time on Xbox? This is a legit question even though Xbox fans who love GP don't want to have this conversation. You think at $14.99 Ms can give piece of the pie to a publisher and make profit? When publishers start to see sales dropping we will start to see support dropping and I don't care how big Ms is they can't pay every single publisher for every single game to cover their losses

When a game goes into development the publisher knows how many copies it will Have to sell just to break even. They have projection on which platform need to see how many copies and when they see one platform meeting/exceeding projections and the other they see people waiting for GP they will have to rethink their future titles

For gamepass to be some sort of viable business model at minimum it has to have tiers and the lowest tier will be $29.99(with 6 months commitment agreement)

Been a gamer for 30+ years and have seen trends/services come and go and GP is definitely a great deal right now but Ms have to pump a lot of money into it just to make it survive

Think about this Netflix started August 27th 1997 and in 2021 they finally turned profit. If anyone needs anymore proof than they can do their own research. Netflix has 200 million subscribers

Id have to agree there! Id like to see what they could do with a Marvel character. With how well the Infamous games turned out, Im confident they could one-up Insomniac's Spider Man. Open world of Tsuhsima with crazy superpowers from Infamous. Seems like they prefer to work on original IP though, and Im totally happy with that.

They’re actually pretty similar in my opinion. Infamous Second Son was a lot like Spider-Man but without the comic licensing.

@Gamble20 Agreed. However, I played inFamous Second Son and Spider-Man back-to-back last year, and the difference was startling. It really shows how the technology has advanced throughout the PS4 era. inFamous felt quite clunky in comparison.

I beg to differ. I think both studios are on par with one another as far as quality goes, but what Insomniac has over Sucker Punch is they are a production engine. Insomniac doesn't release good games once in a while, they release them almost every other year and in some cases year after year, meanwhile Sucker Punch produces 2 maybe 3 games per generation.

PS2 Generation was: Ratchet vs Sly Cooper
PS3 Generation was: Ratchet & Resistance vs inFamous
PS4 Generation was: Ratchet & Spiderman vs inFamous & Ghost
PS5 Generation is currently: Ratchet & SM Miles Morales vs. ..... Ghost (Remaster)

So the quality between both studios IMO is once again on par. However, Insomniac has developed over 30 games during the last 20 years, while sucker punch has made 10 total over the last 22 years. Still two great studios.

@Magog Lol next gen version, its going to go from 1800p to 4k. Load times were already the best in any open world game so that improvement will be meh as well. Plus the ‘patch’ already locked it at 60fps. But to each their own my backlog was crazy as well.

I'd say it'll be $60 because if it's releasing as a Directors cut on PS4 and PS5, that means it's crossbuy and PS4 games don't sell for $70. That's why games like Sackboy released at $60 for PS5

Where this is already PS5 enhanced, it'll be interesting to see if this is a full-blown Remaster, ala Spider Man. Im down if its a free or $10-$20 upgrade! This is only game I bought Day 1 on Digital last Gen. Sucker Punch is one of my fave studios so I knew it would be well worth the $$$ and they did not disappoint!

Ive heard some say this is basically just Assassins Creed in Japan, but I found it to be so much more. All the little touches really added up to make it my favorite game of the generation! Really hoping they announce the semi-sequel soon too, that should be great.

It says its on PS4 as well. So idk why they would remaster a game thats a year old on the same system it was released on. It's probably just DLC on the level of a GOTY edition game except for the fact this game doesn't have paid DLC to be on the level of a GOTY edition.

The difference between Miles Morales on PS4 vs PS5 was pretty significant, not just a res and framerate bump. Hoping it will be that kind of upgrade! Im also hoping they do the same thing as Spider Man with the rumored Ghost of Ikishima semi-sequel. They could easily release that as the main dish with a side of GoT remaster.

I actually really like Sony's approach here. Smaller semi-sequels that they can get released much faster than a full-blown sequel. I think of games like Uncharted Lost Legacy, Miles Morales, and the one that really kind of started all of that, Infamous: First Light. These games are bigger than a simple Season Pass expansion, but not quite a full fledged sequel. They've all been fantastic and a good way to hold us over so the teams can work on whatever is next up!

Just an excellent game. Anything more like the Spider-Man or Horizon DLC would just be icing on the cake. They already did a great job with game+ and Legends. I couldn't get much out of Legends as it was mostly for multiplayer and I played single. Still was a great add-on with the myths.

The ESRB rating also notes that the PS4 version includes in-game purchases (the current retail one does not) and the PS5 version version does not, so it's likely the PS4 game will have an optional upgrade for those who bought it already.

To me, it looks as though Sony, with their newly branded PlayStation Studios, are looking to differentiate themselves from the competition with a cinematic-like brand of marketing with "Director's Cut" titles with the leak of this one. Time will tell.

So a $20 update for PS4 owners that likely already purchased the original game for $60. So early adapters to the game will pay in total $80 for the game on PS4 or $90 if they want to upgrade to PS5 version. While if they waited they could just buy the $70 PS5 version or the $60 PS4 version. Really kind of crappy they are charging the same price for the Directors cut as the OG game but charging OG owners $20~$30 extra to update.

Guess what... GOTY editions, Gold editions, Platinum editions, Collectors editions, Director's cut editions, etc. usually don't come free to people who owned the regular editions of a game. If you are expecting this to be free or discounted for some reason then you might be wishing for something that isn't likely.
