Borderlands 3 has revealed details about the new Crossplay update.
They really went ahead and launched this update without PS4/5 support… thanks Sony! For the players (who don’t want to play with larger multiplayer player bases).
What difference does it make ? Sonybois claim to only play single player games anyways.
Never wanted to play Borderlands 1-3 with others..am I a "Sonyboi" now because I played the games on both Playstations and PC?
@orchard Evidence that it's Sony's fault?
Lol I provide evidence (obviously 2k wouldn’t say no, as they’ve been clear on their stance) but a Sony fanboy can’t stand that his people calling the shots are making shit decisions for consumers in this case. Thanks for the downvote.
Great for all gamers - also now we sse the hypocrisy from SONY
I have always played on Playstation and always wanted CrossPlay, so I can play with my PC friends. Sony just made me sad. I am not sure why they are so stubborn on cross play stance. I know people will bring PS3 era when they allowed it. It's 2021 and I think all big/multiplayer games should have this feature.
This was a 2k decision not Sony.
2k decision because of Sony?
Again 2K has been clear without being allowed to say it’s Sony and yet these Sony Fanboys are so adamant about ignoring their overlords. The downvotes don’t change the facts.
Sony are the only console manufacturer / platform which charges for cross play. This is 100% on Sony and 0% on 2K.
@gortjester And what facts are those?
Be cautious. While great features added in this patch it’s broken Lan play on pc and there’s also major performance issues on Xbox series consoles with in game pauses and stuttering. Pc players also experiencing performance issues also since this update.
I can confirm it’s happening on my series x after it used to be buttery smooth.
Yeah, Funny how I get disagrees for stating facts that I’m experiencing and lots of other people are to. Gearbox employee has even confirmed they’re looking into these issues.
I think you are getting disagrees for attempting to shift the discussion.
Too late anyway. People already finished the game and moved on.
Just a reminder that whilst Sony could indeed reach out to 2K and try and solve the issue. It is 2K who pulled the update on PlayStation, not Sony. And before I see the "they want money" argument, A) we only have evidence that relates to games with MT (which Borderlands 3 has none) B) Why did 2K allow Gearbox to promise this if they knew that Sony charged (if they do) and they had a problem with this? C) Jim Ryan has publicly encouraged cross play D) Overwatch launched cross platform play this week a game with MTX, if Sony does charge, why don't 2K pay it? I mean if Activision are willing to it can't be that bad? Or maybe they have done so because, Sony don't charge, they just ask for a fair cut of MTX.
They probably don't want to pay it and want to use the PlayStation community to pressure Sony into changing their policy as it's not exactly for the gamers. Devs and publishers as a whole seem to be pushing for more from platforms atm.
Imagine defending a large corporation that is being so anti-consumer this hard. Next you’ll be telling us Walmart are the best company in the world. You’re also so wrong. A) Borderlands 3 has MTX and season passes B) They’d likely just assumed it was free because it is everywhere else and is the industry standard. Them having announced it doesn’t negate the fact that Sony are the ones in the wrong here. C) Public stances don’t always match private stances. Saying something publicly means nothing if your actions don’t back it up. D) So 2K should pay just because someone else did? Sony are out of line with the rest of the industry on this. No one else is charging for cross play. Sony are screwing their customers for a quick buck. I spent $500 on this box, I expect it to have similar games and features which are available on other platforms.
@orchad A) What microtransactions do they have? Link to MTX please, also DLC isn't MTX. B) proof? C) Sony have been doing cross play since PS2 (Final Fantasy 11) and countless other PS3 and PC games. D) Was asking the question, you and many others still don't have any evidence that Sony charge for cross play. Even Epic say it's under certain circumstances. https://www.google.com/amp/... You can try and pretend that I'm defending a company, I see it as I refuse to cry about something unless I know the facts, of which we do not. That's how adults usually work, hear something they don't like, they check out the facts and react accordingly.
A) It has cosmetic consumables in-game. Whether you choose to consider those as MTX or DLC is up to you, we also don't know how Sony interprets those. B) I don't have to prove anything about what 2K's logic was, the fact remains that regardless of why they announced this, it doesn't negate the fact this is Sony's fault since they are the ones charging, out of line with every other platform. C) So? Past behavior doesn't mean it's current policy. That's even worse then - they were doing it for free and now they've decided to gouge developers and screw consumers under the new leadership. D) "you and many others still don't have any evidence that Sony charge for cross play." "Even Epic say it's under certain circumstances." If Epic say (under oath in Federal court) that it occurs under certain circumstances, is that not evidence that Sony charge for cross play? Your linked article also proves my point, quoting: "The Verge also says Sweeney confirmed Sony is the only platform holder that requires this compensation for crossplay." Why should developers pay Sony for something that is industry standard today, and is free throughout the industry. Would you be fine if Sony started charging us a $5/mo fee to play cross-play with friends? while Xbox, Switch and PC played for free? I doubt it.
@Orchad " I don't have to prove anything" So you can just go making stuff up then, but try and claim it's true? If you think that it's possibly Sony's fault, that's fine. But you're not, you're trying to pass it off speculation as fact. Until you can grasp that, any counter you make is invalid. "occurs under certain circumstances, is that not evidence that Sony charge for cross play?" It would, if you could prove that Borderlands 3 is a game that falls into "certain circumstance". But again you cannot..So you speculate. " industry standard today, and is free throughout the industry." No it's not, there a far more games that's aren't console cross play then are, so that's not a standard is it? "So? Past behavior doesn't mean it's current policy" It's ALWAYS been policy, thats my point, you claimed actions speak louder, well they have been the most pro active of them all. "That's even worse then - they were doing it for free and now they've decided to gouge developers and screw consumers under the new leadership." Speculation with no proof, so invalid argument. Come back when you have proof and facts.
I am saying its Sony's fault based on the following facts: 1. Sony/PS are the only platform charging for cross-play. This is confirmed by legal statements made under oath in a US federal court. 2. 2K & Gearbox themselves have said, with regards to Borderlands 3 cross-play, Sony are to blame. So unless you have any proof that Epic lied under oath, or that the games developer & publisher are lying, I'm sorry to tell you that they are a way more reliable source than you and your speculation. "'I don't have to prove anything' So you can just go making stuff up then, but try and claim it's true?" Selective quoting is great, the actual thing I said was I don't have to prove any logic behind why 2K announced cross-play for PS. I have already proven via the above that this is indeed Sony's fault, your blind corporate loyalty doesn't invalidate that proof, sorry. "It's ALWAYS been policy, thats my point, you claimed actions speak louder, well they have been the most pro active of them all." Except you just provided an article which shows it hasn't always been policy... You probably shouldn't make points and then immediately contradict yourself with your own sources...
@Orchid "Sony/PS are the only platform charging for cross-play. " In certain circumstances, you have yet to prove that Borderlands 3 falls into this circumstance. "2K & Gearbox themselves have said, with regards to Borderlands 3 cross-play, Sony are to blame." When did they do this? Link to the quote please. "So unless you have any proof that Epic lied under oath, or that the games developer & publisher are lying" Where did I say Epic lied? I simply told you what Epic ACTUALLY said, and that was in certain circumstances (maybe Google what that means as you clearly don't know ATM) Sony charge a royalty fee. Now Fortnite is a live service, which is free to play, and makes ALOT of money of MTX. Borderlands 3 is not a live service, but please if you have proof that Sony are indeed trying to charge 2K then simply provide it and I will apologies. But my guess is you don't, I mean if you had actual proof, you could of shut me down ages ago, yet you haven't. "Except you just provided an article which shows it hasn't always been policy.." The policy has changed to make the cross play policy adaptable to live services, not cross play in general. The facts are Sony have been doing cross play since the PS2 era, and are encouraging it to this very day, the only difference we know about, is when it comes to a live service game like Fornite is Sony want to paid a royalty fee. And you have no proof this isn't the case. I have no loyalty to Sony, but I do have loyality to calling out speculation trying to be passed off as truth and facts.
Sony is wilding.
They need to fix their PS5 trophy save data glitch.
