Doom Eternal finally reveals its ultimate bad guy, The Dark Lord. And it is such a wrongheaded disappointment it saps the fun right out of the game.
TNS: "ADHD can be a rather depilating mental disorder, but I've learned to cope with it by always having these games on hand."
For me it's always been fighting games like SF, Tekken, GG etc.. it really gets my mental stack flowing and forced to take a thinking approach as opposed to playing brain dead.
Everyone should be ready to shoot their way through humans and demons by reading about the best FPS games on the PS4.
While some video games overwhelm you with sheer scale, titles like Asura's Wrath and Doom Eternal make you the boss player right upfront.
It's not great, and pretty anticlimatic as the end to the 19 level epic that Doom Eternal has become. It's not awful, it's just not good either.
Uh what part of "Ancient Gods" had you confused? They pretty blatantly stated what it was about in the title. Generic as a dime a dozen fantasy book but why were you expecting something else?
Yeah I’ve been looking online since I know I’ll never get round to it
What a joke, and yet it still reviewed well
The Dark Lord should have been kept for a full on third game and they wasted him in a small, squashed together rushed DLC
What was the point?
They didn’t even touch upon what the Doom Slayer did in those 14 years between the end of Doom 2016 and Eternal, how did he get that fortress.
" The original Doom game was about a soldier in a science facility on Mars fighting for his life because the scientists discovered a portal to Hell. Now, the existential forces of Heaven and Hell are just really advanced alien races embroiled in a large cosmic war, and the Doom Slayer is turned into a super soldier by a group of ancient warriors called the Night Sentinels to help protect humanity. While the entire production does a fantastic job of channeling this inherently juvenile energy into an exciting cosmic death metal opera, it feels so portentous and gangly when it isn't just an excuse for filling arenas with monsters to fight."
This entire paragraph encapsulates everything that's wrong with the Doom reboot and why it will never be a masterpiece like Doom 3. The Doom reboot is a cheap imitation at best to the Dooms before.
I found Doom 2016 had fun gameplay but knew that the direction it was taking shouldn't be cheered about......and here we are *clap* *clap* Doom ends on a whimper. I hope maybe in 10years time we see another reboot with better focus on true Doom elements.
I feel like doom eternal has literally no connection to doom 2016. Which is a shame since 2016 was pretty good. Doom eternal itself is good but I was hoping the DLC would have tried to connect the 2
