IGN writes: "Rock Band finally arrived on the PlayStation 2 missing many features that make it a must have game on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. For instance, the other versions get new downloadable content every week. Softening the blow a bit is this Track Pack Volume 1, a standalone collection of 20 songs that are already downloadable for other SKUs. Individual songs normally go for two dollars a piece, so at $30 for the Track Pack you will be saving ten bucks. Of course, you're also losing the ability to cherry pick the songs you want. But this is a solid offering of the best Rock Band downloadable content, including well-known hits and some more obscure jams that will please the indie kids.
The Track Pack does not require the original Rock Band disc to play. You'll find the same menus and options here. Either playing solo or with a band, you can either play any song you like in Quickplay or work through the track list linearly in Tour mode. With everything available from the get go, though, we're not sure what the incentive for playing Band mode is. Tug of War and Score Duel modes are also here. This is really the exact same Rock Band game with a different track list. "
