From Destruction Derby successor to this month's big PS5 exclusive: Destruction AllStars interview

Nah, there are plenty of other arcade racers being made and they don't sell particularly well. They have Gran Turismo for sim racers and that is coming this year.

Open world arcade racers are the best selling racing games, and sell way more than sims. The Forza Horizon games are much bigger sellers than the standard sim Forzas, for example, and Horizon 4 was the best selling racing game ever on Xbox. Criterion's NFS game is also likely to be a big hit.

Sony also shut down Evolution after a sim racer (DriveClub). DriveClub sold similarly to the much better reviewed Motorstorm (only the third entry had poor sales) which never had anything like a PS Plus edition to boost sales either and launched on a less successful console. I firmly believe that if Evolution made an open world Motorstorm, they'd still be a Sony studio.

Sim racers seem to have lower sales expectations because they can be churned out more regularly like sports games, reusing large amounts of assets.

Actually sim racers can sell very well. In the era before Sony's first party games started routinely selling 5+ million and many times even 10+ million, Gran Turismo was its most reliable seller. Gran Turismo 3 sold over 14 million on PS2, and Gran Turismo 5 sold about 12 million on PS3.

Unfortunately, they have massively mishandled the series recently, beginning with their decision to rely on the always-flawed "install base" strategy of releasing Gran Turismo 6 on PS3 in late 2013 after PS4 launched. Naturally this caused sales to crater relative to where the series had been, and it ended up topping 5 million. (Source: https://www.gamespot.com/ar...

I can't wait to see wrekfest at 60fps on new.xonsoles. it's excellent but has a super choppy frame rate.

Optimizations has not been announced for Wreckfest on the new consoles (last gen version locked to 30fps) so I wouldn't get my hopes up because you might end up being disappointed. It took them ages to even bring Wreckfest to consoles.

Wreckfest is amazing and the devs still keep adding fresh new content.
It's a must buy for fans of destruction derby games

Deffo not locked to 30 on PS4 pro I play on 1080p TV also. So that would make it even more easy to run at 30 but it's jerky as hel.

I sold ps4pro recently and now saving for ps5 anyway

I misused the word "locked" but the game is capped at 30fps. It loads faster and is a perfect 30fps on PS5 but it can't currently go beyond that without optimizations which may not happen
