What have these people played for the review? Destiny 2: Beyond Light and Season of the Hunt not, for sure.

Season of the Hunt is terrible. There's nothing engaging about it. The loot is lacklustre. I played it the first day and would've happily never touched it again. The only reason to return to it is for the weekly pinnacle.

Hmm, Considering this person seems to have only done the campaign and didn't dive into the post stuff, I'll say this. Yes Bungie vaulted a ton of old content that no one was playing anymore. Yes Bungie sunset a lot of weapons that were so meta it basically made the game hold no challenge. The raid, the post campaign (to get all the stasis upgrades) and the addition of empire hunts, along with exo challenges gives you NEW things to do for the week. Forsaken was left as well as Shadowkeep as this is the direction Bungie is choosing to go into. I won't lie and say I don't miss some of the older raids and certain activities.

All in all for the expansion you get a 6-8 hour campaign. Then you have to work on unlocking the sabotages to gain additional unlocks in terms of powerful/pinnacle rewards, and while doing that you can focus on unlocking all the stasis abilities. There is a lot to do to get all the expansion has to offer. While this may not be everyone's cup of tea, I don't recall seeing many (if anyone) doing any of the older content such as, Weapon Forges, Older Year 1 Raids, and any older campaigns.

They took away more than they gave us, and that holds true to be a shame for the fact that at least Free to Play players would have had a lot more to do to see if they'd invest into the game. In terms of non free to play players this expansion is by far better than last years, this season is honestly Meh at this point, supposedly it picks up and people have data mined the next couple content cutscenes.

As a person who literally has played Destiny since it was in Alpha, I am too saddened by the shift the game is taking, I blame this on them going free to play, and even Luke Smith admitted the amount of time and money they'd have to spend into making TONS of new gear and dump it all into the game for free isn't something they can monetize, and if they make it locked behind a paywall, then the FTP community will go and say the game is pay to win. So they shot themselves in the foot by adding a free to play model to this game, so hard in fact that they have to limit what is "free" and what is for paying customers.

I agree about some things in this review, but in a nutshell nah, its not a 2/5 for me. Europa is beautiful, the best parts for me are more of the exploration of the Crypt, Exo Labs and some other neat things that make the game actually feel more SciFi than it ever has before.

I would give it a 3.25 out of 5. More good than bad, but as usual with Destiny, another just average expansion.
