Review: Demon's Souls Remake revitalizes a cult-classic - GameZone

GameZone writes:

I can’t praise Bluepoint enough with just how much care and attention went into not only bringing this world back to life, but bringing it back in such an authentic way compared to its original. But even though Bluepoint will be getting most of the praise here for their exceptional work, I think it’s also important to recognize FromSoftware’s original design, and just how well that design held up over the years. Souls fans with a PS5 certainly won’t need to be persuaded to hop in, but I’d easily recommend Demon’s Souls for the uninitiated to check out where the this third-person subgenre was conceived. The difficulty can be daunting, but it can also be overcome with enough patience and determination.

Demon's Souls isn't Soulslike. It's the original Souls game. WTF? And Elden Ring?

Another Crab's Treasure simply is not.

All the journos claiming things are "Soulslike" simply don't know what that word means.

GeeEssEff73d ago

The term “Soulslike” has become ridiculously diluted. I have seen it used for games just because they are difficult.

Cacabunga73d ago

Reminds me of Doom like back in the days for every FPS game

blackblades73d ago (Edited 73d ago )

Yeah, souls, souls lite, souls like same goes for rogue.

anast72d ago

It's either AI or the writer doesn't know the subject matter.

robtion73d ago

I've played all of these bar the Crab one so not a very accurate title.

Goodguy0173d ago (Edited 73d ago )

Nioh 1+2 imo are the best souls clone. Love the melee combat and ki system, really hoping team ninja doesn't abandon the IP and continue with a new title, hell just give us your take on the western fantasy setting for a new nioh game.

robtion72d ago

Yes Nioh 2 in particular is great. Also Wo Long (which is basically Nioh 3).

qalpha72d ago

Should have included 'Lies of P'. Seriously fun game.

Nacho_Z72d ago

That's what I was going to say, great game. Best non From Soulslike I've played.

I see absolutely no difference with base performance mode..

MrWood167d ago

Well yeah it tells you the difference— 1440p vs 4k for 60fps. You have to watch the video in 4k to see the difference.

dantesparda168d ago (Edited 168d ago )

Wukong actually performs worst in performance mode, wtf!

And wheres the damn update for this game. They're still more work to be done.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH168d ago

I saw Zero noticeable difference when I played it on Pro. The only game I’ve seen significant difference in is FF7RB but now I get these stutters after the Pro update. I can safely say that if you don’t have a PS5 then getting the Pro is a no brainer but upgrading from PS5 to Pro is not a wise move as of now. Wait for better new games.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH167d ago

So you’re telling me that I DONT have a PS5 Pro and you’re telling me that I DONT have Demon’s Souls and you’re telling me that I DID in fact see a different in a game that according to you I don’t have? Im assuming you’re one of the lucky few who owns a Pro saw a major Difference in Demon’s Souls right?

This list has nine games....

And if these are the "hardest", that's a bit alarming because I'm pretty average and I've managed to 100% more than a third of this list (Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Hard Corps Uprising, and Catherine).
