How have we not seen the nextgen version yet? Probably because it's not much of an update at all. They saw the significant strides NBA 2k21 made and were probably like f*ck...

The proof of the pudding's in the eating, and we always seem to get a mediocre trifle. I'll be curious to see if that changes this gen.

Gen-on-gen improvements have always felt minimal to what the devs/pubs seem to claim. I still remember seeing the "target" image they showed in GamePro for Madden on PS3/360 - it looked almost like CGI. It didn't even get close to that old render even with the comparably much more powerful PS4/XBO lol.

They also do the weird thing of being like "Last year, the game was bad. The tackling was bad, the AI was bad, the physics were bad...This year, they are all waaaaay better"...and it always feels pretty much like the same game. Maybe it'll be different this time! Buuut I doubt it :-p

I remember that 360 CGI footage lol. Game wasn't even remotely close to that.
