"39% of Call of Duty's sales came on PS4, 34% was for the Xbox One version, 17% for the PS5 SKU and 9% for the Xbox Series-only version."

This is interesting because games are selling 2x as many units on the PS5 without it even being out. This seems obtusely lopsided when you consider how close PS4 and Xbox One software sales are in the UK.

seanpitt231308d ago

This is just crazy I didn’t buy either, these games are not doing enough to warrant a purchase from me the same old game year in year out, but i am going to get demon souls when I eventually get my ps5 thats the only game I didn’t get to play on ps3. I have played and completed all fromsoftware games

RosweeSon1307d ago (Edited 1307d ago )

Typical launch fodder there’s always another new entry around the corner I’ll prob grab assassins at least but not til it’s £20/25 max... ie in about 3 months 😑😏✌🏻&# 128540;

LoveSpuds1307d ago

Those typical launch fodder titles sure are getting decent reviews. Saying that you are not a fan of Assassin Creed or Call of Duty games is one thing, but suggesting they are poor games is a bit silly really.

RosweeSon1307d ago

Lovespuds yeah decent 8/9 9’s mainly from
Fans im not saying they terrible games
They not hence they get a solid 8/10, but worth £60/70 when there will be a new one in less than a year and This current one will be £25/30 max nah.

Not at one point did I suggest they were bad games hence I said I’ll probably grab it but if you think I’m paying £60! When £50 I’ll stick with spider miles or Observer which is £24.99!! Day1 digital.
Assassins creed is too yearly churned and I’ll lose money while it’s sat on my shelf as I play the better offerings as for cod don’t buy them day1 as aquired most of the recent ones for free via ps+ 🤷🏻‍♂️😂
I also didn’t say I wasn’t a fan did you even read my comment 😑😂 I’m
Guessing your giving it a solid 9😂😂 it’s typical launch fodder in the sense you always get the third party fifas cod’s assassins creed these days across all available platforms it’s not a next generation game and not what I spent money on for a next gen console I’ll play it but once hype has died down and the new ones announced (around 6 months from
Now) it’s called being smart with your money, means I can buy more games get consoles day1 🤷🏻‍♂️😜

Elwenil1307d ago

So you won't buy 2 new games using an old format, but you will buy a remake of an old game?

seanpitt231307d ago (Edited 1307d ago )

Yeah a remake I have never played and it’s a next gen title only, pushing the boundaries unlike COD where they have given the consumer half a game this year and drip feeding the other half as free content and it looks stale and boring I didnt like the alpha and beta one bit and AC looks the exact same as the previous 2 game don’t get me wrong I like the Viking setting but looking at the combat it really looks mediocre compared to ghost of Tsushima which I loved.

Psychotica1306d ago

Same game? I don't recall another Viking based Assassin's Creed. The map looks nothing like the previous ones, the missions are not the same, the main characters are not the same, the story is not the same etc etc

Knightofelemia1308d ago

Given the odd audio glitch and me getting stuck inside the map I am having fun with Valhalla. I wonder how Miles Morales is doing in the sales.

ufo8mycat1308d ago

Valhalla started interesting for me, but then you get to England

- Grind materials to build your settlement
- Take over settlements
- Hunt down and kill the Templars(called differently in this game but still the same)

This seems awfully familiar...No innovation from Ubisoft

Bathyj1307d ago

Ubisoft games always seem fun but then you realise hey, I just got some regular crackers.

it's like superhero movies, good for weekend flicks but not an award material

I always bought AC games for that lull between spring heavy hitters and holiday heavy hitters, long enough after the release they already have big discount and most of the bugs have been patched. In fact I'm playing odyssey right now, got the full game + season pass for $30.

goldwyncq1307d ago

Are you seriously whining about having to assassinate Templars in an Assassin’s Creed game? That’s like complaining about having to jump on Goombas in a Mario game.

I have both. I'm enjoying Vahalla so far. I'll get to COD soon.

Black ops 4, because it was the last cod of duty I was able to dominate with a +2 k/d ratio. Before all the freaking cheating started to happen. It was nice catching people off guard and shooting at them first and getting the kill. Unlike now, where I shoot people first, but they gun me down with less hits, less time, literally feels like they can kill me in a split second. At times, they are able to run away after me shooting them way more than necessary, yet, the second I'm spotted, I'm dead, there's no me running away to cover. They can do cartwheels, summersaults, backflips and gun you down perfectly. They can shoot you across the map with perfect accuracy. They can jump around like morons and gun you down without even having to correct their aim. They have superman split second perfect reactions. That's the best way to describe it, everything they do is spot on perfect. They can spam and spray (no praying) their gun from far away, because they have no recoil or bullet spread. It always feels like I have to aim and also correct my aim when moving around, while these pricks don't have to do the same.

And yes, I know how to play fps games. I dominated many fps games like: Resistance 1&2, kz 2&3, Socom, MAG, Crysis, Gotham City Impostors, blitz brigade etc. all with 2-4 k/d ratio. Kz2 (lag input controls) and resistance (no aim assist in resistance) being the hardest and were the games I reached either close to a 3 k/d ratio or above.

I truly got to enjoy blacks ops 4 and got my money's worth out of it. Afterwords, I would either stop playing cod games after a while, because of the cheating, or would skip buying cod games for a year or two before buying another.

Modern Games Are Getting Too Long

While there’s a lot to love about modern video games, there is one trend — particularly in the AAA space — that tends to grate: their length.

Games are coming out with too much fluff and side activities that are horribly dull. That's my main issue with all these open world games. Open world should be about exploration, discovery and wonder, not have some stupid 10s or 100s of boring activities spread throughout.

IAMRealHooman79d ago

100% agree
All these ubisoft titles, Farcry, AC, Ghost recon, boast huge maps, but with the same, 3 missions or the same base to clear 100s of times. Hour 1 of any of those titles is the same as hour 100, there big for the sake of being big, with the illusion of player freedom, where we really want depth and player expression.

Ninver78d ago

Give me a solid 15-20 hour engaging single player driven IP any day. Life's too short you dig.

isarai79d ago

I stopped buying overfluffed games like a decade ago. Cant stand games with the Ubisoft mindset of just filling maps with uselss collectibles and fodder. Make it mean something. Ill gladly take 1/4 size of the map and 1/10th the "content" if it all meant more, were more unique and greater affect on your progression.

Abnor_Mal79d ago (Edited 79d ago )

Well people complained like the world was ending when a few games were six to ten hours of gameplay. Developers listened and started making longer games full of repetitive gameplay, time wasting fetch quest and other forms of bloat. In doing so they were able to justify the high cost of a game being sold to the customers at seventy dollars or more.

H979d ago

Filler, it's like a 80 episodes show where only the first and last episodes actually matter

Inverno79d ago

It's been a problem with pretty much every modern AAA game all through last gen and this gen. God forbid you point it out tho because all these big games are masterpieces and people lose their minds if you criticize them. Death Stranding is a fetch quest fest, but people will die defending it cause it's a "masterpiece".
