This makes me think God of War will be "delayed" until Spring 2022 with Horizon in the 2nd quarter, there's no need to have both of them there, and God of War has been a Spring game for a while now :)
I completely disagree, this is how Sony cement their reputation, the sales of Last of Us and Tsushima were completely unaffected by their close launch dates, they both sold by the boat load and, having released these games in that manner, developed a massive amount of buzz and good will from consumers who couldn't believe how impressive Sony's track record was in respect of its exclusive content.
If Horizon and God of War launched a couple of months apart they would both be hugely popular as well as, again, driving that hype and good will with gamers.
Given how impotent Microsoft are in this area, Sony should exploit that hype and reputation to the fullest and land banger after banger for the next two years before Xbox can do anything meaningful in response. Once they have that momentum there will be little MS can do to change things.
Forgetting they haven't shown gameplay or anything for GoW yet. They have no reason to add its release info. If they had a actual trailer already they'd probably give info. But not yet. Once the first gameplay trailer drops then I would start questioning it's release
No idea what you are basing your theory on.. GoW is Q1 confirmed, that's January to March.. Horizon is Q2, covers April to end June.. That can definitely happen.. GT7 and GoW would make Q1 a massive release window
Honestly, almost every major PS4 first party game was delayed at least once this gen, Sony is definitely like Nintendo in that regard, that they dont shy away from delays to make sure its the best game possible (and thats without taking covid/wfh into account)
So I wouldnt really put it out of the realm of possibilities to see GT pushed to the 2nd half of 2021 and HZD to early 2022
I expect the games to be great anyway, so I’d rather assume they will be delayed and not get dissapointed if it does happen
They have too many other things scheduled. There's no need to have God of War there when it can come out after the holidays and have a larger install base to sell to. A 4 - 6 months delay is absolutely fine, as they still have Ratchet and Clank, Gran Turismo 7, Deathloop, Kena Bridge of Spirits, Ghostwire: Tokyo, FF16, Horizon Forbidden West, Returnal, and Destruction All-Stars all scheduled to launch in 2021 (FF16 is another possible 2022).
As much as most of us want GoW ASAP, it's not needed for Sony in 2021.
@LoveSpuds
The Last of Us and Tsushima were both selling to an install base of 110 - 120 millions PlayStation gamers. PS5 is unlikely to be at 20 million users by November 2021, whereas, they are extremely likely to be there by spring of 2022 possibly 25 million once GoW releases.
It doesn't need to come out next year. They already have around 10 announced games for 2021, God of War can roll right into 2022 where it can complete development around holiday 2021, and use the extra few months to make sure the game runs and plays flawlessly in 60fps mode, has an amazing photo mode, and add accessibility option on the scale of The Last of Us 2 for everyone to play regardless of skill and disability.
@ABizz how can a game that was TEASED not even a gameplay picture with just a ruff 1 year window be delayed 🤦🏿 Halo was delayed it was supposed to be launch game next week GOW DON’T HAVE A DATE HENCE CAN’T BE DELAYED 🤯
I don't think they would of dropped that bombshell of teasing Ragnarok, only to delay it. It's actually brilliant to release these games in Year 1. X-box has NOTHING coming until 2022, besides Halo, and maybe Senua 2. If PS5 releases ALL of these games before the Xbox even gets off the ground running, Sony will have already won this generation.
By being revealed for 2021, and then Sony and the developer deciding early 2022 is a better timeframe so they don't have to deal with a crowded holiday, and can completely own the entire month the game releases unchallenged.
Some of you need to take the fanboy worship glasses off and simply let a comment be just that, a comment. There is nothing in my comment saying God of War is in trouble, its simply stating what Sony and their developers have been doing with games all 2019 and 2020 (releasing them when it makes the most sense / when they're 100% ready), and when God of War has consistently been released.
For example, God of War 1, God of War 2, God of War 3, God of War Ascension, God of War PS4, and Chains of Olympus ALL BEING RELEASED IN SPRING, with Ghost of Sparta and the mobile game being the only two not to release in Spring.
Damn.... I guess I got a timeline to get one now. Lol. Did not think Returnal would be coming so soon. Add in the games I ready want along with Horizon, Ratchet and GT and its turning into a must have for me now.
Don’t sleep on Returnal! It looks really good . Rift Apart looks like the best R&C game yet and I don’t need to say anything about Forbidden West and GT7 on top of it . Amazing launch year
I forgot about God of War too! Even if it launches 2022 which it may or may not it doesn’t really matter but if you add God of War damn that’s too much
I told yall these consoles are way better buys holiday 2021. 2021 is gonna be lit, I'll be in my first non rented home, ton of great games, and a vaccine will be out.
I can play Demons Souls Astro Play Room SpiderMan BugSnax (it’s free why not try it with kids?) Godfall , Destruction All Stars for sure next 3-4 months with a couple multiplats like Scarlet Nexus and maybe Valhalla by then RC and Returnal will be out and throw in a few of my backlog PS4 games I haven’t played yet and I don’t have enough time to play it all . PS4 backlog is going to take the rest of my life at this rate . I wish I was retired by now 😂
Dude, none of those games comes close to GOW Horizon and RandC, like come on Bugsnax lol a 2 hour expansion and a remake. I'll rather finish my backlog, get it when the AAA true next gen stuff is out and save money from the bundle. But everyone think different.
^ @chiefJohn117, a 2 hour expansion? Where do you get this nonsense from? I watched the Yong Yea review last night, he said 12-20 hours and that it took him 13 because he rushed through and only dipped into side stuff to ensure his review was true to the game.
Miles Morales is shorter than the original, so people get bent out of shape, despite it being longer than most games and costing less lol
Next wrong with play at release I just dont see nothing that'll hold my attention more than 2 weeks. If you say so, I'll be picking up Halo (obviously lol) Scorn, The Medium and Hellblade in 2021. I wanna try Like a dragon but doubt I'll have time for any more when I throw 3rd party in the mix. Hope Bugsnax last for you xD
It just hit me, you guys are right, I have freaking Gamepass ill get all the stuff free lol Why am I worried about saving a some cash. I'd wait to get PS5 tho once better games are out and Ssd expansion is cheaper. I doubt I'd make a year with just 664gb
How I am I trolling? I basically say PS5 has a killer 2021 lineup and that'll be the best time to get it imo and that's trolling to you? Something is wrong with you people. Is GOW2, RnC and Horizon not better than the launch lineup? Yes or no Is the lack of storage not cause for concern? Yes or no If your answer is yes to both those than you agree with everything I've said.
@Sully I wish I was making it up, not much storage. Hopeful the cost will go down cause $220 for 1tb is too freaking much. Idk why Sony nor MS did do a 500gb $120 ssd expansion at launch.
Only playstation 5 you can say that about. Xbox/MS won't have games ready till sometimes in 2022. Unless we are talking about smaller AA titles. Ms really recently acquired those studios so most of those games are in early development
GT7 releasing so early is a welcome shock. Makes sense why GT Sport hasn't received any new content for what feels like an eternity now, though I am grateful, want PD to spend as much time with GT7 as possible.
For sure! And I’ll add Kena: Bridge of Spirits. Possibly my most anticipated new iP and most excited game to play, aside from the likes of God of War Ragnarok, and Forbidden West, Kena looks magical, fun and just darn unique. And it’s from a small team, here’s hoping it turns out great and their vision of the game is accomplished, and us gamers love it!
Ratchet & Clank Gran Turismo 7 God of War: Ragnarok Returnal Destruction All-Stars Spider-Man: Miles Morales Demon’s Souls Horizon: Forbidden West Final Fantasy XVI Deathloop Sackboy Kena: Bridge of Spirits
Ps5 clearly has the best first year first party exclusives a console ever had. Spiderman MM Horizon zero dawn 2 Demon souls remake Sackboy adventures Ratchet ARA GOD of WAR ragnarok Returnal Destruction Allstars.
Thats why so many people like Sony, they keep pumping out quality first party games and there is hardly ever a big gap between releases, unlike Microsoft.
My goodness what a lineup, the fact that Sony supported the PS4 up until the end and still managed to succeed in having such a brilliant 21' lineup is testament to how committed they are to gaming, truly a must have console is PS5.
Earlier in the year a certain group of people told me that the PS5 won't have any good exclusives for at least 2 years, that Sony is afraid of Microsoft and that Xbox will launch with Halo Infinite, Forza 8 and Hellblade 2.
Absolutely amazing and can't wait for 2021
🔥🔥🔥
Goosebumps!
First thing I spotted.
This is the same dialogue as the other tv spot but that felt flat to me. This one with the games really hits home
As usual it's all about the games.
Don’t sleep on Returnal! It looks really good . Rift Apart looks like the best R&C game yet and I don’t need to say anything about Forbidden West and GT7 on top of it . Amazing launch year
