Xbox Series X UI's 1080p Resolution Is Not Final and Will Be Updated Before Launch

Xbox Series X UI is limited to just 1080p resolution however according to Microsoft, this is not the final resolution and it might be updated before launch.

Well... if MS doesn't have the better games (like the whole of this gen) then they might as well push for the highest resolution. Because that's all you're going to get this gen. Sony, as always, will have the better games and on PS5, the better user experience. The vast majority of gamers will choose PS5 over Xbox again.

Generally, the UI resolution would be of my least concern. But these new machines have you do lots of stuff in the UI, everything from creating partiers, psn/xbl, reading messages etc. You spend increasingly more time in the UI with these new consoles wich almost makes the UI part of the gaming experience.

This is the problem with influencers' early access. On one hand it's great to hear these first-hand views when we're all eager for news. But on the other hand there is a string of 'guidelines' and rules that direct the persons as to what they can and CAN'T talk about. Having an embargo date is fine, but companies shouldn't be dictating what can or can't be said.

- don't care about VR
- don't care about load times / boot times / resume times
- awesome 1st party games are coming - hang tight. If not, don't care because exclusives don't matter
- Atmos is better than any crap Sony comes up with
- care a lot about subscription services unless it has the letters PS or Now in it
- care a lot about playing older games with enhancements
- care immensely about 120FPS and 4K, unless PS5 can do it, then add it to the don't care list

Not really hard at all. I would say it’s hard to find what Xbox is better at. Every game they’ve showed so far has no next-gen factor to it. The console looks thrown together inside.

Hardware wise is showing to be a wash, with an advantage to ps5 since the ssd is transforming level design.

Software wise is a landslide for PS5.

You have 1080p space to share data versus 4k space to share data. Data will be large and stretched on larger screens that support 4k rather than fully utilizing the potential of the space. 4k allows you to support more than 1080p potential and evolve to meet the abilities of 42"+ TV screens.

Considering all the fanfare over the great changes Microsoft has made to their UI, I don't understand why people are suddenly so resistant to improving it further by utilizing 4k UI as an option.

The 6GB of reserved RAM for OS is more than enough to handle it. By far. Most of that RAM will be used to maintain solid-state save assets for multiple games to allow instant access via swapping to multiple games, real-time conversion of raw video to 4k video, and the like. The UI is such a small footprint compared to the other features. And the CPU won't give them more access to OS function channels for gaming just because it's not being used.

12 TP can easily processed a 4K UI with HDR support. Overall presentation matters to a lot of people especially if you are paying premium price for a console.

Yes the user interface of the xbox Series X is at 1080P, John Linemann confirm it on tweeter (Digital foundry), but not also that the UI from xbox is shiity and not user friendly, I know what I'am talking about, I have an Xbox one X Gears edition, I bought it for collection ( good looking console) , It is a windows store style, I really hate it. I also have a ps4 pro and it is far better and much user friendly.

I also was impressed by the UI of the PS5, very beautifull, smooth, clean and looks easy to use, they did a very good job. The big M$ problem is focusing to uch on power and not on the user experience because a console made for gamers is all of that and not only big guns, and about the big guns we did not see any next gen games at all running on the xbox series X, nothing, M$ disappoint me, they made an evolution of their console (like an xbox one XL) and not a new next gen consol, Sony has a new UI with exciting features, the dual sense and they will have god of war. On the other side microsoft has nothing to show (quick resume lol) and no games ( ah yes old games ) Next gen is not playing old games, for me next gen is a new experience of gaming and not only playing my old games again with a better frame rate like on pc.

To resume :

Xbox -> Xbox one XL, same UI in 1080P, old games : it is like changing a graphic card

PS5 -> New experience nothing to do with ps4, they change everything from the gamepad to the interface in 4K HDR. : it is like having a new machine.

Now, I've read several articles that claim MS reduced the res on Xbox UI due to developer requests to free max amount of memory for games. I don't know how true that is, but the fact remains if you run a UI at higher resolution it will utilise more memory. I really hope people understand this to be true.

Either way, the UI itself should above all, be response. It's job is to get you through the menus as quickly as possible and load a game. To that extent resolution is pretty much redundant, I hope you guys see this. For me, what makes Sony's UI interesting is the new features. They seem like they could add a bit of fun and interest to the UI.
