I thought the 2 issues I read about were:
1) The expansion card was hot to the touch
2) The system was putting out a lot of heat even when it was in low-power mode, which would be unusual.
So to summarise 12 full minutes, no issue with overheating.
The whole "overheating" thing was overblown. Both consoles will run fine.
