morganfell1668d ago

I was waiting on this. I do not own any of those. I traded in one of my Pros right before I ordered my two PS5s. Now the day before launch the second one is going bye bye as well. Great news.

UnSelf1668d ago (Edited 1668d ago )

Nooooo not Joe’s Diner!

Edit: nvm someone just told me theyre not closing the one down my block

sprinterboy1668d ago

So basically a list of games nobody plays anyway? great

RpgSama1668d ago (Edited 1668d ago )

What?!!! Just Deal With It! Doesn't work on the ps5?!!! I guess people will just have to......... Deal with it.

I'll take myself out, I'm sorry, hahahaha

Babadook71668d ago (Edited 1668d ago )

"Robinson: The Journey"

:,(
I loved that game.

darthv721668d ago

I have played TT but the first one, not the 2nd so no biggie. Shadow Complex... I havent played that one since the 360.

RosweeSon1668d ago

And let’s face it who actually wants to play them this gen let alone next generation 😏😜

ThereGoThatManQ1668d ago

I see you with the quick flex @morganfell lol

TheKingKratos1668d ago

Nooooo
Ps5 is doomed without Joe's Diner

/s

drunkenspy0071668d ago

Nice, I have none of those games nor any interest in them.

TallDarknWavy1668d ago

I wonder if the P.T. demo can be transferred over...

1668d ago
Godmars2901668d ago

Irony that one is "Just Deal With It!"

Skuletor1668d ago

Robinson: The Journey is that Crytek PSVR game right? Don't know if it was PSVR only but I'm surprised a PSVR game isn't compatible

1668d ago
SyntheticForm1668d ago

More people know about Joe's Diner than they ever did thanks to it not being compatible with PS5.

Next Week: Drastic increase in sales for Joe's Diner

VTKC1667d ago

Quite obscure games. I never even heard of some of them. Well hopefully that list doesn't grow as time goes on.

If that list is exhaustive, that's much better than I expected. From an engineering perspective I'd love to know what makes these particular games incompatible though. Probably some unusual low level optimizations.

StoneyYoshi1668d ago

It most likely has something to do with the way Sony has built this new OS. There may be compatibility issues. It could be possible for the devs to patch it if they cared to but thats highly unlikely.

QUIMICOMORTAL1668d ago

indeed, sad to see shadow complex thogh, i have that on my backlog.

But I didn't remeber it until I read the article...

MetalProxy1668d ago

It’s a good game but not great. Good thing it doesn’t take to long to finish it.

Sunny_D1668d ago

Might as well play it now if you have your current PS4. It is a short game

1668d ago
dantesparda1668d ago

"In-Game Live from PlayStation is not supported on PS5 consoles."
What does this mean? That's there's no Live from PS on the PS5? Also what do they mean by "in-game"? You can have these running while playing a game?

StoneyYoshi1668d ago

Ps5 probably has a newer option that's better than live from playstation.

PS4 only games:
DWVR
Afro Samurai 2 Revenge of Kuma Volume One
TT Isle of Man - Ride on the Edge 2
Just Deal With It!
Shadow Complex Remastered
Robinson: The Journey
We Sing
Hitman Go: Definitive Edition
Shadwen
Joe's Diner

Not bad...nothing on the list that's made me bat an eyelid

Vanfernal1668d ago

You mean I can't play Joe's Diner??? Pre-order canceled! D=

Relientk771668d ago

I like how multiple people in the comments are bashing Joe's Diner lol What the hell is Joe's Diner?

VenomUK1668d ago

You mean I can't play We Sing???

1668d ago
ziggurcat1668d ago (Edited 1668d ago )

I have Hitman Go, but haven't touched it since I finished several years ago.

Profchaos1668d ago

If you miss it pretty sure it goes free on mobile devices all the time

ziggurcat1668d ago

I do not. No urge to replay that game.

Edgelordsupreme1668d ago

Its a ridiculously easy platinum trophy

InMyOpinion1667d ago

I was very much looking forward to playing Hitman Go on my PS5. It's a huge reason as to why I'm upgrading from the PS4, to get that butter smooth experience with my huge library of outdated mobile ports. Seriously disappointed with this heartbreaking news. Preorder cancelled.

VTKC1667d ago

By the way whats DWVR? Dynasty Warriors 5 Remaster?

SullysCigar1667d ago

It's an old, low budget PSVR fps. It's not terrible. Bit like Doom. The devs have already tweeted that the hope to patch it to work with PS5 before it launches.

No mention of PS4 games running at higher resolutions :(

PrinceAli1668d ago

Neither console has those...

1668d ago
Ron_Danger1668d ago

Oh boy!! I’m so glad we’re back to comparing resolution!!

Babadook71668d ago

Yup. Sort of. Both consoles will run dynamic resolutions at higher (max) resolution. Neither has claimed any improvement in resolutions for fixed resolution.

+ Show (1) more replyLast reply 1668d ago
preciousdeath1668d ago

Did you read?

"Select PS4 games will benefit from the PS5 console’s Game Boost, which may make PS4 games run with a higher or smoother frame rate."

Cyb3r1668d ago

They said "higher and smoother frame rate" the word resolution was missing from their quote

preciousdeath1668d ago

My bad, I guess they don't specifically mention resolution. However, they do say mention upgradeable PS4 games to the PS5 versions. That's where the resolution bumps would happen.

jukins1668d ago

Theyve mentioned it before already "select ls4 and psvr games will experience smoother gameplay higher res higher frame rate" paraphrasing a little but still. I'd hope that every game in the ps+ collection is at least enhanced

1668d ago
LucasRuinedChildhood1668d ago

They definitely should have clarified that. I assume the PS5 will run the PS4 Pro versions of these games but all the games before the PS4 Pro's release should ideally upscale to 4K.

OB1Biker1668d ago

Just like on Series X, it just makes sense that games with a dynamic resolution will be improved. Same with games not locked at 30fps.

cfir1668d ago

Just for info, only some games will get the resolution update and it sounds like Microsoft are patching. Here's an extract from a blog post by Jason Ronald (director of program management for the Xbox Series X) 'Microsoft’s Xbox Series X will apply the “Heutchy method,” which enables titles to render with increased resolutions up to 4K, plus anisotropic filtering to older games. But they’ll only be applied to a “hand-curated list”'
He's also previously stated in an interview in July 'the goal is definitely the thousands of titles that run on Xbox One today. If the game runs on Xbox One, it is our goal to get that to run on Series X. There might be some one-off exceptions here or there, [due to] licensing or a technical issue[s]'
This sounds a bit similar to the PS5, but Sony were either more naïve or up front depending on your persepective.

SullysCigar1668d ago (Edited 1668d ago )

What's funny, after all the negative speculation by certain outlets and gamers, is that there will be more games from the previous gen playable on the next gen for PS5 than Series S/X. Why? Because there are more games available on PS4 to start with than Xbox One and we now know the handful that won't work with PS5.

Presumably, some of those games will have similar license or technical issues for Xbox too.

Add in Xbox One Kinect games (there are around 50) - none of which are playable on Series S/X - and it's clear that the percentage of previous gen games playable on next gen will be lower for Xbox than PS5.

Unless I'm missing something, of course - happy to be corrected, if so.

mkis0071668d ago

It says dynamic resolution games will...

VenomUK1668d ago (Edited 1668d ago )

@richierich On the PlayStation Blog story answering questions on BC it says "Some titles with unlocked frame rates or dynamic resolution up to 4K may see higher fidelity." This is an oblique reference that games that have a dynamic resolution MAY have that increased! It's not a firm statement but it's the most we've got so far.

https://blog.playstation.co...

TallDarknWavy1668d ago

Games with variable resolution will play at the highest resolution programmed. Variable resolution is done instead of taking frame rate hits. So on PS5 you will get max resolution and framerate.

tontontam01668d ago

Misinformed MS fanboys now:" the beast, most powerful console", only owns the under powerd xbox one s

Misinformed MS fanboy: "blabla bla resolution ps5 sucks", buys the underpowered series s.

RangerWalk2671668d ago

They didn't mention it because they don't intend on giving users "remasters" for free. They made a killing on remastered games on the PS4. They don't have a smart delivery system in place. Smart delivery isn't the Xbox Series X just using it's better hardware to boost the last gen games. It knows you bought the game last gen and automatically bump up the assets to Ultra settings. Similar to a PC

RazzerRedux1667d ago (Edited 1667d ago )

"They made a killing on remastered games on the PS4."

They did? TLOU. Uncharted Trilogy. God of War 3. That's a killing to you? Hell, they could have done a heck of a lot more than that. Microsoft made sure they sold a whole bunch of MCC before they unveiled BC, now didn't they? How about that Gears of War Ultimate Edition. Works both ways.

Hakuoro1667d ago (Edited 1667d ago )

If people want to buy them then whats the issue. If you don't want to buy them then don't. And how about Halo which got remasters or Resident Evil?

All you guys do is cherry pick which remasters you want to complain about and only complain about PlayStation.

But all these gaming sites that have been saying that only 100 games will work or that you're going to be waiting years for them all to work. Been so tiresome to listen to.

1668d ago Replies(1)
Petebloodyonion1668d ago (Edited 1668d ago )

It's funny that you mention that since you operate gaming news yourself.
Did Marc Cerney mentioned that "PS5 will support ‘almost all’ of the top 100 PS4 games at launch"?
https://www.theverge.com/20...

As a game journalist isn't that your job to report and not make assumptions?
Media at the time report the quote and asked Sony for Clarification.
And here was the answer: We believe that the overwhelming majority of the 4,000+ PS4 titles will be playable on PS5.”
https://www.theverge.com/20...

Thus prompting another question that Sony never answer until recently in an interview with the Washington Post
Are all the games compatible at launch or they will gradually become available?
https://www.washingtonpost....

Sony never answers the question and the press did like usual and asked the question again and again.
So please tell me where it's bad journalism, bias, or bad media?

Also, just a reminder that Sony, at the time, said:
“We’re expecting backward compatible titles will run at a boosted frequency on PS5 so that they can benefit from higher or more stable frame rates and potentially higher resolutions"
Keyword: potentially
Did TGG " report the news" or they made the assumption that higher resolution was a given? Because for the moment it's not the case. (And I doubt that Sony would suddenly forget to put it on the webpage).

mkis0071668d ago

Dynamic resolution is fully dependent on moment to moment framerate...meaning if framerate is stable, resolution will be.

Petebloodyonion1668d ago

@Mks007
So why Sony wrote, " Select PS4 games will benefit from the PS5 console’s Game Boost, which may make PS4 games run with a higher or smoother frame rate." and didn't include smother or higher resolution?
How about load times?

Here's Microsoft statement on their website in regards to backward compatibility
"Get ready for faster load times, higher resolution, more stable frame rates, and better input latency on thousands of Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Original Xbox games."
https://www.xbox.com/en-CA/...

I doubt that Sony would forget to mention to potential customers the benefits of backward compatibility when the competition is making sure to let you know about them.

RedDevils1668d ago

More like Journalist using their guesstimate without proper answer to their question

Hakuoro1667d ago

"I doubt that Sony would forget to mention to potential customers the benefits of backward compatibility when the competition is making sure to let you know about them."

But Microsoft is being misleading, not all the games will benefit from those features but they make it seem like they will. So while Microsoft was out misleading Sony was making cautious but truthful statements.

1666d ago
Petebloodyonion1666d ago

@Darkwingsoul
" how about giving us actual numbers instead of adjectives. Saying thousands of games doesn't mean every single game, what games won't see improvements?"

Marketing is all about selling benefits, not about specific details, does Sony answer your question better regarding all the exact things you asked?
Here's Sony's answer.
"Select PS4 games will benefit from the PS5 console’s Game Boost, which may make PS4 games run with a higher or smoother frame rate."

I think the riskier option is to sell a SP game that you throw some form of MP into just for the sake of it and that ends up affecting the quality of the SP experience. With the plethora of F2P MP games out there, why spend time and money on something when you can focus on the SP experience. Not to say that means they're all good, but at least they're not wasting time with things people don't want in SP games. I doubt anyone bought Veilguard for MP let alone will buy the next Star Wars SP game and expect MP either.

Garethvk15h ago

There is that. I think the modes that were tried for The Last of Us is a good example. But for me a FPS missing multiplayer seems off as it was such a staple FPS, RTS, and sports games are where gamers expect it to be.

Vits16h ago

It's the current logic. People are paying more, for less.

If that "saved" money were actually spent on improving the single-player experience, that’d be one thing. But anyone who actually plays games knows that’s not what happens. We’re in the era of “safe” games, stripped-down, polished packages full of shiny lighting, big setpieces, and all the interactivity of a NES-era background.

Multiplayer modes, extra features, modding tools, things that used to add value for players, keep getting cut. Why? Because they don’t add value for the company. And, as always, the useful idiots will cheer, pay more all while getting less than before. So of course companies will keep doing it.

Garethvk15h ago

Exactly and what gets me is if it is done correctly, multiplay adds money. Ask Activision how much they make on skins and DLC all the while giving a year of free content updates. You get through a Call of Duty campaign in about 8-12 hrs. The multiplayer and frequent content updates are what keeps people playing. I always pop back in when new maps and content release. I do not buy skins and packs but many do. I wonder if we will get the Half-Life 2 mode where Multiplayer is added later. Some may see how the game does and then decide to add it later.

isarai15h ago

I wish they would go back to having SOME simple mp, like instead of the only choices being going all out and gambling on a super roadmaped, season pass, Battle Royale, multiplayer with open world maps and tons of loot OR no multiplayer at all. Why cant we have something in between sometimes? Where's just this very simple PVP probably reusing a sectioned off peace of a level from a single player like they used to do

Garethvk15h ago

I think they all have a place but simpler forms are needed. I wish we would see more co-op play in a campaign.

Profchaos49m ago

I hope so tacked on multiplayer modes have always felt forced

Garethvk44m ago

Very true but certain genres like FPS and RTS games are expected to have them and when they do not it makes one wonder.

Profchaos29m ago

Agree but there's definitely been some wtf moments over the years and it really was far worse in the late ps360 era where games like tomb raider the reboot had multiplayer and trophies required multiplayer.
